How do you all feel about running a MC FL-400S out to say 7-8,000 miles on a clean motor? Or is that just pushing the limits of this filter?

If motor is clean inside, and it's driven with a decent amount of highway miles, I'd say that 8K of use would be fine.

+1 ZeeOSix

Why wouldn't it be ok for 8k? I think we really under estimate most filters.

There are members on this forum who take FL-910S, the smaller brother of the 400s, to 10K with no problem.

Use the 400S at 8K with confidence - I'm using a 910S for 7,500K.

No problem IMO. I think Ford even has some OCI's that are spec'd longer than that so a Motorcraft will have to be able to do it.

The key of course was "clean engine". Not a good idea in a sludger with any filter IMO.

I'm running one out to 15k miles, so I'd feel just fine about 8k miles.

But I'm seen as a heretic by many ... despite the proof I provide of safe operation.
