I spotted this Mercedes Benz GLC63S with a 4.0 liter 510 HP Bi-Turbo V-8 illegally parked on the street in Calgary. The last shot is of it getting hauled away.

Well, at least it was a flatbed!

I think a lot of people with really nice vehicles think they can park anywhere because they are "special"...not that this is necessarily the case here.

I see more junk blocking lanes with their hazards on than nice cars. You don't have to worry about a heap getting vandalized in the same way you would a nice car.

That tow truck is for an auto club, I'm wondering if it was broken down. Car was pretty far from the curb as well.

I was thinking of that as well, but I'll be at the CAA office later this week and ask if CAA trucks moonlight hauling illegally parked cars. The owner was no where to be seen with is unusual since the auto club normally wants you around when they tow.

Here the tow trucks with AAA on them still do other things besides AAA work. So it wouldn't be uncommon to see one doing a repo or police tow.

My boss at a previous job told me that she was rushing to the airport once and just parked her car at the curb. She didn't realize where she'd left the car til she came back from her trip wondering where she parked her car and then realized it had been towed and sitting in a lot the whole time she was away.

A few months ago someone left their rental car in the drop off lane for departures at the airport. They evacuated the terminal and destroyed this little Sentra. Broke all the windows and pried the hood and truck open.

Did they sell it from the impound lot before she was able to pay all the fees?

This was a while ago before 9/11 so I guess it wasn't that big a deal. She probably made 6+ figures even back then and parking lot daily impounds were probably just $30-$50 a day.
