I would. A 3 hatch is still a low-to-the-ground car with a lower seating position. Seats close to the floor are not comfortable to me, and I rarely find comfort in a sedan (or wagonlet, like a 3 hatch). If I wanted something this size, I'd look at the CX-3 over the 3 hatch 8 days a week.

(Though, to be fair, it looks like the CX-3 has an awfully high belt line as well. I probably wouldn't care for it either. Styling of many vehicles today, with "swoopy" sides with angled or curved door sills, don't really do it for me...)

People who need to get around in inclement weather or live on the outskirts of civilization but don't want to drive anything bigger than necessary.

Agreed

For $3k more one can get an entry level MB GLA. I understand the appeal of small CUV's. I sit relatively high and can get in an out comfortably all day long without doing acrobatics. As much as I love dribving my BRZ, I don't care to drive it in dense traffic, since my vision is blocked by tailgates and rear bumpers. Passing is easier with a higher vehicle that offers a superior view. Not everyone needs a lot of cargo room and often the CUV is a second car anyway.

Why not buy a bus?

Why not just make one vehicle, and force everyone in the United States to buy that instead of all these different choices and options?

Dude, why do you hate the fact that other people might not want the same things that you do?

What old Mazda 2 platform?
This is built on the NEW Mazda 2 platform.

If you're going to complain about something, at least try to be accurate in your complaints.

At least according to Wikipedia, the NEW Mazda2 (fourth generation, 2014+) is based on a version of the CX-5 platform, rather than Ford's DE platform used in the Ford Fiesta and third generation (2007-2014) Mazda2.

The CX-3 page says that it's based on the Mazda2 platform. Given that the "new" Mazda2 is based on a version of the CX-5, and we're talking about a smaller CX-3 here, it seems logical to conclude that the CX-3 is based on the DE platform or "old" Mazda2 platform. It doesn't seem clear to me which is the case.

Unless the CX-3 truly is based on the new Mazda2, which is based on the CX-5, making the CX-3 sort of based on the CX-5.
