Great engine in this car. Car mostly sees 14 mile daily commutes to work. A lot of WOT and high speed highway driving.

The last UOA I did on this car using RL 5w20 showed 34 ppm of Fe.

I refilled with Mobil 1 5w20 EP. I will go 10-15k next.

Gorgeous report. I'm going to run M1 0w-20 for the first time this upcoming winter in the same car. Took advantage of the AAP special.

Definitely a great report. I say you resample @ 10k with the M1 EP just to confirm the result and to make sure the oil still has life left in it to go further. If the results show you can go further, (up to 12k for example) continue using the oil and then do an oil change.

With the next fill, run to 12k and pull a sample without draining the sump. Wait for the results and go further if you can.

IMO, this is the safest and best way to extend your OCIs until you reach a good limit.

Awesome report, I wish my silicon readings could be that low. Always a plus to have only 'wear metals' and not much in the way of 'noise' contaminants.

I just replaced the air filter and noticed that it wasn't entirely secure. One of the clamps was off. Didn't have an impact on silicon though.

This engine consumes no visible amount of oil. The engine was broken-in aggressively with a lot of WOT after the first 50 miles. I am happy with this report overall and think 10k is doable.

I'm going to push the EP further.

Good idea, thanks.

buster, is the motor a 2.0 or 2.3L? What mpg are you getting with it? I have to agree the MZRs are nice.

It's the 2.3L. I haven't calculated the fuel economy in awhile. Most likely around 26 mpg.

I think 10,000 is easily achieved on EP.

That's pretty funny on your air intake, b/c my BIL with his Fit sport basically has a few gashes in his cone filter/intake kit he has. Still his silicon was only about 1 ppm/1,000 miles. IIRC, 14 ppm over 14,000, he'll have his M1 0w-20 report one of these days. I'm waiting...

The 0-20 would be easy as well for 10K. The last OC on the Fusion was almost 11K as I was on a trip to Florida. Speaking of Florida, In two weeks we plan to go to Gainesville and the Fusion(same as your engine) will have over 7K when we leave. As for the EP, in my view 15K will be fine for this engine. As I have said before a friend is doing 15+K with 5-30EP in his 03 Windstar V6. No problems after 155K and the engine looks good through oil fill hole.

Well, I suppose that depends on the lab and TBN test method. 2 is my preferred bottom cut off for the 'change by 1' B_S recommendation based on their test standard(I forget which test standard number is which).

Still wondering about the 0 Moly Buster. I would call them and have them check their original sheet. They can do that.

I believe the Mazda 3 can be either 2.3 0r 2.0, however Buster's is the 2.3 Duratech, same as my Fusion.

....and the same as my 03' Focus.....I think its a great engine.

M-1 0w20.....will be my next change. I have it in my stash.

AFE SN.

The only criticism I have is the Tbn could be a bit higher with this oil.

Just did a 200 mile trip averaging 90 mph with several WOT's. I'm going to really push this EP 5w20 out to 12k. I will be putting on a Fumoto Drain valve when I do the change to make sampling a lot easier.

I want to see how this SN EP stuff holds up. For the trip I just did I used Wawa gas. 10% Ethanol. Sigh....
