Mayday! This is driving me berzerk -- help!

Generally speaking, my internet access is working very nicely -- with one maddening exception. I can't seem to access Toyota.com, which being a Toyota owner (x2), I look at fairly often. Oddly enough, Lexus.com is the same -- I try to access, the attempt times out eventually, and I get the cannot access screen.

All other internet sites, other car makers, all work related sites, fun ones, etc., all come up normally.

This happens exactly the same using any of the three ISPs I routinely access (high-speed cable at home, EVDO cell card on the road, and a direct connect ISP in my office building at work.

I'm using the "new" Norton 360 for security, and I'm not totally familiar with it, but I don't see any indication that it has "targeted" these two sites for blocking.

It's not as if I'll die without access to this site, but now it's become the challenge of it -- I just HAVE to fix this.

Oh, one more "datapoint": other members at ToyotaNation report that both sites are working fine (I've been unable to access since Saturday morning).

If anyone can help that will be great.

From what I understand, Norton 360 only will warn you of phishing sites. It shouldn't outright block you from access.

Have you tried a different browser? Like firefox instead of IE, or the other way around? I've found some sites to be unusable on firefox.

Yep, same result exactly with Firefox. BTW, I'm using the most current version of IE 7 (7.0.5730.11 to be precise).

I had thought it must be something to do with the firewall since both browsers had the same result, but who knows.

I disallow Active X controls.

Went to Toyota.com and they insist I initiate Macromedia Flash or did Adobe buy it or whatever.

A pox on sites that do not have a Flash-less version.

You MAY need to be Flash ready to enter the site or need a newer version. Maybe.

I HATE sites that do not allow basic HTML access.

Yeah, I had full, unproblematic access until Saturday -- then nothing, and nothing since. ALL other sites, car makers, office stuff, etc. all work fine. Just no Toyota...

try manually entering different DNS servers into your computer's network TCP/IP settings.

ns1.dreamhost.com = 66.33.206.206
ns2.dreamhost.com = 208.96.10.221

I use them on my DSL modem. I find these servers to be highly reliable...even moreso than the Bellsouth DNS servers.

Try turning Norton off and see what happens.

Opendns works great here.

You need to take a look at your browser default settings, your firewall, and your network properties. Some setting might've been adjusted by hacker, virus,.......

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've tried deactivating everything in Norton that I can turn off -- same result. This weekend when I have some time, I'll totally uninstall it and see what happens. uD, I'm picking through what I can find, but still no results.
