Background: a good friend from the LX community has a Charger R/T with 110k miles on it and brought it to me with a peculiar trans issue. The 2-3 shift was taking a long time to complete, no flare or clunking, no slip, good engagement time, just a looooong shift. No codes, fluid serviced every 30k miles with Castrol ATF+4, filter change every other service. This is FAR more maintenance & service than my identical trans has ever had! He has a LOT of strip passes as well.
After test driving and scanning we decided to try Maxlife, as I have heard so much good about it in older tired transmissions. Dropped the pan and changed out the filter first, it was shiny clean, no particles of anything! Did a drive way flush with 16 quarts to get all the old stuff out. Fluid was beautiful, bright red, no stink.
3 Days later I called him and he said no change. I told him to make plans to locate a trans as most rebuilders are not qualified or prepared to do anything to this trans. For those who do not know, this is a Merc WA580 built in Indiana under license from Benz.
3 weeks later (yesterday) he calls with news that the car is all better. The delay is GONE! The shift is firm, quick, and butter smooth.
Maxlife = wow!
