Background: a good friend from the LX community has a Charger R/T with 110k miles on it and brought it to me with a peculiar trans issue. The 2-3 shift was taking a long time to complete, no flare or clunking, no slip, good engagement time, just a looooong shift. No codes, fluid serviced every 30k miles with Castrol ATF+4, filter change every other service. This is FAR more maintenance & service than my identical trans has ever had! He has a LOT of strip passes as well.

After test driving and scanning we decided to try Maxlife, as I have heard so much good about it in older tired transmissions. Dropped the pan and changed out the filter first, it was shiny clean, no particles of anything! Did a drive way flush with 16 quarts to get all the old stuff out. Fluid was beautiful, bright red, no stink.

3 Days later I called him and he said no change. I told him to make plans to locate a trans as most rebuilders are not qualified or prepared to do anything to this trans. For those who do not know, this is a Merc WA580 built in Indiana under license from Benz.

3 weeks later (yesterday) he calls with news that the car is all better. The delay is GONE! The shift is firm, quick, and butter smooth.

Maxlife = wow!

Maxlife ATF did wonders in my E4OD. I was convinced my transmission was bad.

After I installed Maxlife as a last resort I noticed a immediate difference with a few signs of the symptoms I had. The longer it stayed in my transmission, the better it worked until all of the symptoms went away and it shifted perfectly.

I have nothing but great things to say about Maxlife ATF.

Any battery disconnects? Just asking!
I've been using ML atf in my '04 Altima(D&F ONLY) and it has helped slightly with the "shift flare" that I am experiencing. Another D&F may help even more, IDK!

Nope, we used a fancy scanner I borrowed that allowed me to do a reset on the PCM and the TCM.

This is a CANBUS car, a wee bit tricky but I have found them to be amazingly reliable even at high miles...

Hmmmmm, Sunny FL!
I'll be there soon after I retire next week! Driving down and staying for 2-3 weeks and I'm not in a hurry to come back anytime soon

Years ago I noticed my Accord 4cyl with 135k started to consume oil. Changed the pcv valve and topped off with a quart of ML and never noticed any more consumption. Sold it at 166k. I was running MC syn-blend at the time. A few months prior I topped off with Mobil 5k which was quickly gobbled up.

We discovered ML oil here and started using it in high mileage motors that had issues. I have found it to be amazing, quieting mechanical noise and reducing oil use from leaks and burning.

Good stuff!

I am not really a fan of valvoline or maxlife , or castrol FWIW,

However I have used all of them at various times due to DEALS.

Maxlife is the only one I actually noticed improving something.
(seal leaks)

I also like the 20w50 in my beater tractor.

The CVPI is getting ML next change. Its consuming Mobil 5000 at a rate of about a quart every 2250. I have 6 jugs of the stuff I got 50% off. By interested to see what it does.

i've used maxlife in a 03 elantra XD and aside from the rabid fanbase of nay sayers it did not grenade even after a couple thousand miles. also used it in subaru's, and it will soon go into a 97 honda. its excellent stuff and i will continue to buy it.

These slushboxes are VERY fussy about fluid level. Since the fluid volume is changed dramatically in the pan by temp your symptoms may simply be a low fluid condition.

All you need is an infra red point&shoot thermometer and a loooong zip tie with the end marked in ten mm increments.

PM me if you are intrigued...
