Valvoline is offering a maxlife oil filter now!! It says on the box engineered by purolator. I cut a pureoone open and the new maxlife, and the internals appear to be identical. The maxlife says it filters 50% more sludge!!! If sludge is floating around in my oil id be worried!!

I'm thinking if they are not overpriced they'd look nice hanging off the side of my 300 straight six block.

The price is 5.88 at advance auto same as the purolator pureone price. The antidrainback valve appears to be identical to the premium plus model so i dont think is a silicone type. It is definently a pureone in every other aspect. Definently just a marketing tool. Some die hard valvoline guy will see it and buy it thinking he has ultimate protection with a total valvoline oil,and filter combo!!!

That's me!

I am also a die-hard Purolator filter fan, but more in the form of Motorcraft filters. I shy away from the Pure One as possibly being overly restrictive though. Still, that nice red Maxlife filter would look pretty good.

The regular Purolator and Pure one were almost impossible to tell apart other then the ADBV in the ones I cut apart, so this one could really go either way.

The ADBV and media are what make the Pure one, so without a filter study on it like Grease's it's hard to tell where this would stand. For the same price as a Pure one and no silicone ADBV I think I'll take the Pure one.

What makes a filter better at filtering "sludge". Sounds like marketing to me.

Another source for Purolators is a good thing, especially in canada. Do these have a silicone ADBV?

Tallpaul the filter is actually all black except for the maxlife writing has a litle bit of red outline.
