Maxlife Dex/Merc for PS fluid?

My Outback uses DexIII ATF for the power steering fluid. Only stuff I have on hand right now is the Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc ATF that I am running in the car right now (which seems to be running fine BTW, good synblend fluid at a good price).

Is it ok to run the Maxlife in the PS? Not sure if the conditioners and seal agents will have any issues with the PS system. PS fluid is factory as far as I know, unless it was flushed by the previous owner before I got it 40k ago.

I'd like to know the long term damage these "high mileage" oils do to seals and gaskets with their additional seal swelling agents.I was always under the opinion that trying to swell a seal only works once,and then the seal degrades and ceases to swell and seal with any confidence at all.Sorta like using brake fluid to blow a seal up,basically its rubber is ruined afterwards.Dont know.Maybe its all just a marketing ploy,just adding a dab more seal swell than a regular oil....??? Never ran a high mileage oil,and really never had the need to.

I did a complete flush of my P/S system about a month ago and did the flush with a mix of Maxlife ATF Merc/Dex & Mercon V---also added a bottle of lubeguard Red and the P/S system works better then ever now... No Leaks No Noise...

My P/S unit has 287K miles on it... I did add a magnefine p/s filter as well... after seeing the old ATF that was pumped out and the black crud floating around... A filter is a smart addition to the system...

Use it on your own choice... So far I have not had any issues...

Maxlife ATF is the P/S is fine. While I was working at Tire Kingdom, we were sold Maxlife ATF in 55 gallon drums and used it in both low and high mileage p/s systems without trouble.

Feel free to use it. It is good stuff.

Our 2008 Sienna calls for Dexron III in the PS unit, and I've been using Valvoline Dex/Merc (non-Maxlife) for the past year with no problems.
