I think that Honda has to have the easiest to change the fluid....WOW actually have a drain plug...the filter is easy to change also....

But they sure did for their AT (actually warranty extensions

).

I could get Z-1 here for under $5 a quart from a dealer if you bought a case so I always bought Z-1. I usually just price shop the OEM fluid and have been able to find it at a reasonable price. So there was never a real reason to switch.

to use MaxLife or not is my personal perferences, i know while Z1 wont fail Honda AT, i searched many BITOGers'experiences (experiment) and decided to try MaxLife (just like running xw-20 in winter and 5w-30 in summer). i also recall some post backing out Maxlife on Honda due to harsh shift.

Maxlife ATF is really a good product and I would not hesitate to use it in a Honda with higher mileage. I would also add a bottle of Lubegard Red...

Okay, I'll stick with Z-1 for the warranty period, then experiment once it's out of all warranty at 60k miles.

Reviving this thread from the dead...

My friend's 09 Fit is about to hit 30,000 miles. At the oil change today, I noticed that the fluid still looked acceptable. However, as you are coming to a stop the downshifting is rather harsh and clunky and I'm not sure if it is normal. Also, the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are a bit more sloppy and noticeable than other Honda 5-speeds I've driven.

So, I'm thinking about doing a drain and refill with Maxlife ATF in an effort to cure the problem. Has anyone tried Maxlife ATF in a 09+ Fit?

I don't remember too many recalls for Z1 fluid but Honda A/T's are another story....

Bringing this back from the dead...

I did the 4th drain/fill with Maxlife ATF on the Fit today. The old Maxlife came out cherry red just like the new Maxlife that went in. No signs of debris, either. The shifts were smooth and fast as I've come to expect from this transmission running Maxlife ATF. Cold or hot, it just shifts smoothly. I ended up switching to Maxlife ATF at about 28k miles. Changes were about every oil change until it was fully switched after 3 drain/fills. After this 4th drain/fill, I'm leaving it alone for 30k miles based on the experiences to date.

I do a Maxlife drain/fill about every 2 engine oil changes on our 2008 Odyssey.

The Odyssey has been on Maxlife ATF since 2009 and has never been better.
