Hey everyone,
Would running 4 qrts of GTX and 2 qrts of Maxlife be ok to mix together? Im about to start my rinse phase in my Tacoma then afterwards im going to have 4 qrts of GTX left. My maintence plan is going to be Maxlife with 4 oz of auto rx.

I wouldn't do it ALL THE TIME, every once in a while won't hurt anything.

Mixing two different oils together dilutes the additives in each, assuming the two oils use different additives.

have always heard its best to stick with the same brands when mixing.

But then again lost of poeple have reported on here that they have 5 different quarts of 5 different brands in their motors and the motor didnt fall out of the car.

You will be ok, would doing it all the time be bad

As long as you keep oil on the full mark, nothing bad will happen!

Some of you people worry wayyyyy too much on these forums, grab a beer,go outside have some fun!

Agree with Dragrace, it is just a lubricant, not gonna hurt to mix it, just try and keep it the same weight, but even then you can't mess anything up.
I mix all the time when I run out of something.

I wouldn't make a practice of it but it won't hurt a thing. My lawn equipment gets a cocktail of whatever I have left over from oil changes. That would be 15w40, 5w30 and 5w20. No harm has seem to come from this. My mower calls for a straight 30w by the way.

I started a jug containing new oil remnants from vehicle oil changes. So far, I have a couple parts Mobil Clean 5000, Pennzoil yellow bottle, and pennzoil Platinum, all in 5w30. To this I have added some Mobil V-twin motorcycle 10w-40 I had laying around for a year for good measure. Gonna use this stuff up in mower and snowblower next year.

I don't see any reason not to mix. But I thought high-mileage oil was a no-no for use with Auto-Rx? If Maxlife isn't an HM oil, or it's ok with Auto-Rx, then ignore what I said and mix away.

Frank said on the auto rx forum you can use HM oils when on the maintence plan but not on the clean and rinse .

Yea thats true...im not concerned but i wasnt sure since one is a HM oil and the other is not. I may use Castrol HM instead and in December go with Maxlife.

Right, and I understood ARB's post to mean he was planning to mix in some HM oil during the *rinse* phase. If that's not what he meant, then no problem.
