How do you monitor air quality? Do you have equipment on campus or are there gov't run meters near by with instant data?
I found out today that it is the EPA that sets up equipment and monitors air quality. They come at our request. It is portable and has been moved to several of our schools today to test air quality. Those schools have complained of some odors today. Fortunately, we've not had any issue. But we are southeast of the path of the smoke and never had any soot or ash or anything thanks to the wind direction.

I'd like to request it to be located downwind of White Castle just to see what the data shows there.

Yeah I would think that CO2 is the least of anyone's worries, especially with that black smoke. Lots of partially combusted... something in there.

just thinking out loud here....maybe the forklift charger was right next to an aisle of TruFuel
I'll do you one better.

What if a magnifying glass display was next to a west facing window and was next to a pallet of matchsticks, which was next to a pallet of starter logs, which was next to a pallet of pellet fuel, which was next to a pallet of fire extinguishers, but it turns out the extinguishers were all returned due to being defective and then it got out of hand from there?

I think that I got like 25 boxes of delvac shipped to me from that warehouse before so I can only imagine the amount of flammable crap they have stacked racks high in there.

Just watched The Simpsons with the episode with the box labeled Oily Rags in the basement, have we lol?

I was pondering which one was worse this fire or the car carrier that sank from the electric porsche fire.
Then I realized.. The sinking ship+4000 cars was carbon sequestration... Must be greener right? ;)

The ship with burning porsche cars is so sad. The vw crap.. whatever
One news report said, “to reduce fire risk they drain the gas from cars shipped on boats”. HUH? They drive them on and drive them off! I think a lot of news copy is just made up junk. Imagine the fire risk involved while draining 5000 auto gas tanks!

I dont know. No facts to share. But car journalists I work with told me that the belief at this point is the battery powered cars had issues and started the fires. That is speculation. But came from the shipping company folks.
