On all 4 counts!
May the lord have mercy on her (or maybe not)

EDIT: Peter Bockonovich (s?) found guilty on 4 of 5 counts. They both face "up to" 20years. I doubt it will be that much. I speculate the guy will get a "max" of 10 and Martha a "max" of 5.

YES-YES-YES! It is about time that wealthy people have to go to prison for what they have done and not just the poorer people. Let it be a lesson to some.

...By not admitting guilt now but vowing to appeal she stands to eliminate any chance of leniency at her sentencing.

If Martha Stewart ends up in Jail but Ken Lay and all the Enron boy's don't, I will be so

. These are the guys we have to prosecute. Who cares about Martha friggin Stewart. I think Bush and Cheney were investigated at one time for insider trading.

I doubt she will do time. SHe will get stiff fines, parol and comunity service. THe broker is a different story he will do time.

Don't worry Buster, the Enron boys'll be gettin theirs. As they go to jail they're going to Texas state maximum security. Even though the feds are prosecuting, Texas is doing the punishing.

Federal sentencing guidelines stipulate that she will have to serve time (1-2yrs.), but there always seems to be a way to get around those guidelines...

Well..I agree with 7TFord above: If she appeals (as she will) she will do time. Maybe only a week-but she will do time. Martha brought this on her self. Her arrogance did not allow her to plead guilty and accept a nominal fine and a slap on the wrist-and be done with it.

I do find it amazing that there was not a hung jury. My wife said she knew Martha would be found guilty. She said she will go to jail and this experience will change her life and she will do something important with her life (not as a Domestic Diva) She said its God's plan for Martha. Who am I to argue with my wife.

One of the jurors said that this was a message to corporate America. If it wasn't a message to Martha Stewart, why was she convicted?

Another juror was insulted by the appearance in the courtroom of Martha's celebrity friends. There was not much talk about convicting her on the evidence.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but these comments are strange.

Subject: Martha Stewart

There's an old axiom,
"Rich people don't go to jail"

( The one exception Tax evasion )

Remember Leona Helmsly? (S/P ?)
"Only The Little People Pay Taxes"

If Martha does time,
I'm sure she will find some
"Bleeding Heart" Liberal Judge that will let her off. They always do.

Comments are comments. We hopefully assume that they also weighed the evidence and convicted her on it.

I think I heard it said today that Leona Helmsley did 21 months. One ex prosecutor commenting today figured that Martha would indeed serve time, 18 to 24 months he thought due in part because she was convicted on all 4 counts. They have to give her something adequate for the crime...we are talking the feds sending a message here, and as it seems she isn't humbling herself and still claims "she did nothing wrong" they won't likely offer any reduction in sentencing for that attitude. The $250,000 fine per offense she will have less trouble with.

You know what is funny? Martha is a BILLIONAIRE not a millionaire and she did this for something like $50,000!!!!! That is truly pocket change to her. She is so cheep to try to risk it to save some pocket change! The richer you are the cheeper you are I guess! She deserves jail time!

Chris,
Rene Rivkin, one of the high flighers down here was done for an insider trade that made him $10,000 Aus (it was worth like $5k U.S. when he did it).

Doesn't matter how big the crime is, it's still a crime, and people with insider information are stealing money from the rest of us and our retirements.
