ok my car has been stored since nov. 13 and itrs almost been a whole month without starting it.

Today i cranked the engine about 2 rotations just so the cylinder walls don't get any surface rust on them.. because i heard its possible.. Any thing wrong with doing this? is it causing any excessive wear on the camshaft? or any other parts?

Or would starting the vehicle just be better?
I plan to drive the car sometime within the next 2 weeks... on the highway to let everything warm up nicely

Cylinders are made of iron.
Iron actually absorbs oil which is one reason it's such a great material for cylinder walls.

So, in 3 weeks time, I'd be willing to bet there is little to no "rust" developing on an iron cylinder wall.

Uhh, the car I'm currently driving sat for months on end for about 3 years without being touched by the previous owner. After a thorough tune-up and Auto-RX cycle it's running like a champ.

I wouldn't sweat it. Let it idle for 15-20 minutes with the A/C on every month to charge the battery and you should be fine.

Just start it and let it idle for a few minutes before driving. Heck: people let their cars set for 6 months and never think anything about it.

Less than a month?
I would never consider a manual cranking then.
Or even starting it at all.
Keep your battery charged, esp. in a Chicago winter.
Get her good and hot on Valentine's Day.
That would be about right.

yep, just watch the battery... you might want to take it out. The A/C seals drying out would be my greater concern.

Your are fine!

My pops has a 1969 bonniville. He starts it every 6-7 months and drives it around town for 1-2 hours. Then parks it for another 6-7 months. Its been a while since he has done that though. Its been a good 4-5 years!!!!!

But

Whenever he did start it, it took a few tries, but it started up fine, and ran like a champ.

i have the battery in the car hooked up to a battery tender.
Stabil in the gas tank,
moth balls and silica packs inside the car.
the muffler pipe is closed so nothing gets in like moisture.
i washed the car and spray waxed it since it was in good condition. All it needs next time i decide to driver her is more air in the tires..

ps. the car sits on carpet which is above alot of plasitc fail so i can get a good moisture barrier.

also the car is sitting with used oil. M1 5-20 with about 1200-1500 miles on it. i heard it was fine to keep it in and not change it out.

Two rotations did nothing other than move stuff. If you've ever tried to prime an oil pump with a drill you'll understand why.

Everything right except used oil. Maybe 1500 miles on M1 is ok, but you are risking bearing corrosion if it sits more than a couple of months. I have about 100 UOA that show this as fact when engines are left with used oil between harvests, and my own cars when I'm at the other house/city.
