Manual oil change pump is the answer to my prayers.

I have hesitated getting one of those I'm waiting for the one that crawls under the car and changes out the filter. If I still need to crawl under the I might as well do it all

The only downside is some vehicles make it hard to stick any kind of tubing down the dipstick tube. I could never do an oil sample on my cummins due to this reason. There is something at the very bottom that doesn't allow the tube to go all the way down which is kind of why I never gave these things a look.
It's the indentation in the filler tube that keeps the tube from going all the way into the pan. Have to make sure the plastic hose is straight on the end and even then sometimes you have to twist it. I always have that problem on everything including transmissions when using those plastic hoses.

I've already tried to get some tubing down the Kia's dipstick tube... that's a no-go. Don't know what's blocking it, but something is.
I don't know what they were thinking when they did this, but they put the drain plug on the front side of the oil pan, meaning you don't even get a good drain with the car sitting level, you hardly get a drain at all with the front up on ramps. I've been sucking it out with a brake fluid extractor run off the compressor, but that thing's a pain. Just bought this last week, look forward to seeing how well it works at my next oci.

What engine? That hose is way too big for at least the 2.4 or 1.6. I use a smaller diameter stiff hose on my extractor. There is an oil deflector that I have to go around by just twisting and such but is usually not an issue.

I used to use an oil extractor with the Audi, but its oil filter was a cartridge on top of the engine. With the Pilot, I'm back to crawling underneath to drain the oil and change the filter. Installed a magnetic drain plug this last OCI because it's getting removed anyway, so might as well add another layer.

So far I've used it on my 10R80 and the rear diff on the F150. The diff was a pain. I need to pick up some different tubing to get down into the diff a little better. The position of the fill plug is right up against the pinion assembly, so there's a big chunk of iron right inside the hole that you have to work around. I had some flexible tubing that I made work, but I need to work on a better solution for next time.
You have to find tubing that's white. It's nice and stiff and will go where you aim it.

I used to think this way. Now I swap the filter every 2nd service. Heck, Toyota sez 10K OCIs and I stick to 4500 mile OCIs.
Using the MityVac is far less messy regardless of the oil filter. It's just easier all around.

I have taken to 4500-5500 mile OCIs, swapping the filter every 2nd service. I've done an oil change on Christmas Day in my clean duds before dinner... Sheesh this thing rocks!
Only way to fly! Big Pela Pump Extractor. Dealer change oil and filter in Fall. Extractor change in Spring. Seems to extract almost every ounce out of my Camry!

Filtermag on the filter, Valvomax in place of drain plug. Drain right to waste container. Metal stuff sticks to inside of filter can. Use a ziploc around filter when you remove it and keep it all clean.

I've thought about the filter magnets and not-having-to-remove-oil-drain-plug, but chose this path and will continue down it. Many things in life I regret not having done sooner, or not having done at all. Why should I change my trajectory now?

Not sure if anyone does this, but if I were to use one of these evacuation devices, and I would suggest this to others....is when you get all the oil out, remove the drain plug and pour some oil back into the motor and see if any debris comes out that has settled in the pan.

Maybe 3-4 ounces, just enough to get the gunk out. I would have to assume that if you never pull the drain plug and only siphon it through the dipstick tube, that there's going to be a buildup of gunk on the bottom that will just continue to get caught in the pickup screen. Maybe, maybe not....but I would have to check.

problem is, it has to make a hard 90 as soon as it goes through the hole. I have the stiff tubes that came with my extractor. I either have to get thinner tubes or one slightly less stiff.

Not a huge deal, just a minor pain.

If I had the room in my garage to store that sweet lookin Mity Vac, I'd definitely get one :)....I accumulated way too much stuff over the years :(...So, I guess I'll keep rollin around on the floor for now. Besides, I still gotta get under the cars to grab the filters. Guess I'm a typical BITOGER,......buy,buy,buy, & stash, stash, stash. Sometimes, I can't even find what I bought throughout the years. Gotta go on a hunting trip to locate stuff :(

I use this oil extractor on both of my late-model Audis:

Suction is from either the built-in hand pump or you can use an air compressor - FWIW, I've always used the built-in pump. It also helps that the oil filter is on-top of the engine in the "Hot-V".

If I'm going to remove the plug, put new crush washer and torque to prevent stripping after suctioning all out, I'm just doing that at the start. I like my Fumoto on my Accord and the Valvomax on Pilot. Fumoto on my Pilot does not fit well and hangs too low.
