Manual oil change pump is the answer to my prayers.

So someone gave me one of these pumps a few years back. Mine is an older version and I guess its missing a few hose attachments. Not sure what all tbe different ones are for, but today I decided to use this thing to pump the oil out of my waverunner for the first change as I guess thats the only way to do it. I backed it into the water to run it for 5 minutes or so to warm the oil up, then pumped it out out through the dipstick tube in the boat ramp parking lot. For years I stuck my nose up at those things thinking you have to put it 50 times. I gave it like 6 or 7 pumps which was probably more than it needed and thets all it took for it to start a siphon and suck it out all. 3 quarts only took a few minutes. It just creates a vacuum inside that reservoir to suck the oil out. Once it creates a vacuum, you sit let it do it's thing. It's not often im impressed, but inwas impressed by this thing. One thing im not sure if is if I can still get the same results with cold oil. Anyways. Just sharing my experience here.

I have pretty much the same one with the air compressor add on so I can just use compressed air instead of pumping. Just got it recently.

I should have bought one ages ago.

The only downside is some vehicles make it hard to stick any kind of tubing down the dipstick tube. I could never do an oil sample on my cummins due to this reason. There is something at the very bottom that doesn't allow the tube to go all the way down which is kind of why I never gave these things a look.

With that being said, doesn't it also turn into an air pump to pump the oil back out so you can empty it?

I've already tried to get some tubing down the Kia's dipstick tube... that's a no-go. Don't know what's blocking it, but something is.
I don't know what they were thinking when they did this, but they put the drain plug on the front side of the oil pan, meaning you don't even get a good drain with the car sitting level, you hardly get a drain at all with the front up on ramps. I've been sucking it out with a brake fluid extractor run off the compressor, but that thing's a pain. Just bought this last week, look forward to seeing how well it works at my next oci.

Ummm......Pretty sure it doesn't. Honestly never looked. Mine has a little lip on the spout so I just pour it out that way.

I probably won't investigate that since it would end with me spraying oil all over the garage.

Pressurized fluid containers and me don't mix. Pouring keeps me cleaner!! :) Lol

They do make smaller tubing. Picked some up at home depot yesterday. It's .170 ID and 1/4" OD. The tubing you have pictured looks way too big of a diameter.

One thing I will say about that pump.

Make sure you put clamps on the connections and whatever container you're putting the discharge in, make sure that you have a positive attachment for it. Don't just shove it in a bottle and think you're good. It can pump a surprising amount of fluid in a short amount of time.

Ask me how I know.

The tubing I tried was considerably smaller than what's in the picture. It would go about 8" down the tube and stop hard. After multiple tries I just returned to draining from below, which is the purpose this pump will serve.

So far I've used it on my 10R80 and the rear diff on the F150. The diff was a pain. I need to pick up some different tubing to get down into the diff a little better. The position of the fill plug is right up against the pinion assembly, so there's a big chunk of iron right inside the hole that you have to work around. I had some flexible tubing that I made work, but I need to work on a better solution for next time.

I think thats what i did to empty it. Now I remember. I just pulled the hose off and poured it out of that 1" diameter hole. It was given to me full of oil so this was like 3 years ago lol

Purchased mine about 12 years ago.
Easily saved thousands in fluid changes.
Probably the most-used tool in my collection.
🍻
Im going to use it on my other boat. Im not messing with that dumb ez oil drain hose anymore. Engine bay is too crammed on that particular boat.

Lol, I've always done the fluid changes, I just got tired of screwing around with things I 'made work" or doing it the hard way just because it was cheaper. Just made up my mind that life is too short to screw around with crap tools.

I love my MityVac. It works very well on our '13 GS350 F Sport. Just get that oil hot!

What's cool is it measures what you pump out, so you have idea of what needs to go back in. Sometimes it's hard to rely on the dipstick. I think when you pull the house out it leaves a trail of oil all the way up the dipstick tube, which makes it hard to read. I didn't have an issue reading the dipstick on my waverunner until today. Luckily I was able to just put back in what came out.

I have taken to 4500-5500 mile OCIs, swapping the filter every 2nd service. I've done an oil change on Christmas Day in my clean duds before dinner... Sheesh this thing rocks!
No kidding. How many things do we have to do that always seems to involve rolling around on our back? Then I start off the day with dirt all over the back of my shirt. Have to blow it off with compressed air to look halfway decent.

I'm 72. I am finding I don't get up off the concrete so fast anymore... Sheesh.
I'm 16 years away from that but still have that issue.

I used my HF version many times for transmissions, power steering and brake fluid. Only a couple times for oil as I'm under anyway for the filter.

I tried it a couple weeks ago on my Pilot after new TC was isntalled. I don't know what might be different or just where it was but I couldn't get the smaller tube to go in through dipstick port. I know I had done it before. I attempted multiple angles and no go, something blocking it. I went back to the drain plug on that for a 3x D&F. Wasn't an issue as my skid plate was not back on yet. The vacuum version was nice so didn't need to drop the skid plate. Maybe I'll try again in 30k if I swap any fluid then. Not as worried now since on full synthetic.
