The packages at a PPA (Personal Package Archive) will be downloadable as a .deb file, which is the equivalent of a windows .exe installation file.

I followed some instructions and added a PPA to my list and then updated and nothing is happening. (I have no idea what I'm doing. I hurt my brain earlier today running a extracting and installing a Brother printer driver...that too two hours but I got it.)

Though, even if I install HAL, according to that thread Firefox will still say Flash is out of date and Hal doesn't affect Chrome so how would it work?
