Did the search on the forum, saw that there might be more than 1 manufacturers that makes filters for Honda. One of them being the dreaded Fram.

So what's the official count of manufacturers on the Honda filters? Anybody cut them open?

Filtech was the OEM filter that come off the last 4 Hondas we bought new.

I think most of the Honda filters you get at the dealer are made by Fram.

Fram/Honeywell makes the new Honda OEM Filter, Filtech used to make them. You can still find Honda Filtech filters around...Hard to come by...

If you can't find the Filtech, try for the Nippon Honda filters. They are at least as good as the Filtech. Anything except the Fram/Honeywell.

The FRAM-made filters state on the can housing, "made in Canada". I bought one of those filters from my dealer shortly after purchasing my '96 Accord I4. I never got around to using it before the car's untimely demise. I did use it on my '03 Sonata V6. No problems. I doubt Honda would trust their 60,000 mile warranty to a problem-prone oil filter design, but fortunately for the FRAM bashers, they have plenty of alternatives. I believe the current Honda I4 will still accept the older, larger filter. A Purolator 14459 would be moderately oversize compared to the pre-schoolers' tricycle filter Honda's currently installing as OEM.

Ray,

The L-14610 Purolator (current small Honda filter) has 115-120 square inches of media inside. It looks small on the outside, but you would be surprised when you cut it open.
