MAJOR Score on RTS 5-40 at Sam's Club!!

Yesterday, while making the bi-weekly pilgrammage for office supplies to Sam's, I swung by to check out their stock of RTS 5-40. I've been stocking up on the CI-4+ stuff, which they've been selling in 3-1 gallon containers in a convenient carry box, for around $43.00.

I had to break out the spectacles to double-check the price $27.72!!

I scarfed up all they had, 8 cases.

When I was checking out, I got to talking with the manager (who was probably wondering where I was going with all that oil) and he said that price is 40% below their cost - they're not carrying it anymore. I don't know if that means they're not going to stock RTS 5-40, or they're preparing for the new CJ-4 stuff.

In any event, I'm stocked up for about 10 years, I guess.

yikes... I sure hope the wal-mart enterprise isnt going to give up on carrying the RTS 5w-40... it is good stuff and they are the only folks that I know that carry it.

The only car I own that would possibly use the stuff is my MazdaSpeed 6. It suffers from fuel dilution and normally calls for 5W-30. But, one case of three gallons would be a year's supply if it actually worked well in my car.

It is a great price though on a great oil.

Wow!! At Wal-Mart on Saturday nite (

) I noticed the new CJ-4 RTS is now $20.00/gal!!

I just bought 4 cases of the same oil this morning. I couldn't beleive the price either and was wondering if it was a mistake. I think i might go back and get some more. Normally it is $20 for a gallon of this stuff. Since my trcuk takes 16 qts per oil change I might as well stock up

Hmmm. At Sam's this past Saturday, I didn't see any RTS 5-40, just the 15-40. I guess they're not going to stock it anymore. Bummer.

Hopefully my stash will hold up till we find out just how good the new CJ-4 really is.
