MagicJack & NetTalk DUO

They are home VoIP solutions. They connect to the Internet to Magic Jack's or Net Talk's PBX via an enternet port on your home router and provide you with home service.

I have basic talk at home and it works well. Only time I have issues is when the Internet goes down (which is frequent when you have Time Warner).

The WiFi one I'm guessing is one that doesn't have to connect , physically, to the home router.

Neither, recommend you go to Ooma, free national, caller Id etc, etc but you get landline quality phone service. Plugs into your router, it's free except monthly tax of less then $5 in my area.
Yes, they prompt you to chose their pay service but no need unless you have a business, you just go into your account and change to free. Which is free except the monthly tax.
Stellar sound quality with Ooma, magic jack was a complete failure in our home.

I have nettalk. The call quality is below average. Its $40/year plus $10 for local taxes, so about $50 a year.

I make/receive about 5 phone calls a month, so my usage is LOW. I'm trying to decide now if I want to renew, go with another service, or cancel altogether.

Looks like OOMA runs about $4/month? Thats about $48 a year, on top of the initial $100 buy in for the equipment.

I had Vonage years ago. The call quality was excellent, but the cost of the service was much higher than comparable VOIP services.

Another vote for Ooma; L line quality, never a problem, for about 3 years, now.

We've had MagicJack phone service for 8 + years now.

No problems to report,we're happy with it.

Pretty much the same here. No complaints.

I used an obihai 100 with google voice for free. Wasnt "HD" sound but worked fine.

The device costs about 30-50$ depending on model and sales.
uses an ethernet cable to your router.

You can either use a cordless phone or backfeed it into your home phone wiring if your phone wiring is disconnnected of course.(not using dsl etc)

you can also use the obihai devices with paid providers.. usually around 50-60$/yr

One good option is to use the free GV service with an Obihai and then purchase 911 and CNAM (caller ID name lookup) from a provider. That is only a total of about $15 a year. I do this with mine (provider is Anveo) and it works great.

If you were having issues with call quality I'd look into it, ours is flawless.
