Returned from Florida today(21st trip in the Fusion),but this morning My wife and I had breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Manchester, TN. After breakfast I checked under the hood and two older gentleman parked next to me driving a Ford F150. One asked me how I liked the Fusion, and one thing led to another when oil type came up. When I said I use M1 0-20 his eyes lit up and said he was long time user of M1 oils. I told him I do 10K OCIs and he replied that he has done 20K OCIs for many years with great success using M1 in various engines. He has used Fram Ultra also with a filter change at 10K for quite a while as well. Interesting who you might meet while traveling.

nice story.

You have done well with oil on your cars, no consumption, mainly highway? Have you done many repairs on your Fords? Sorry, I realize I am going off topic, just curious.

For an evaluation and PICS see the bottom of page three in the vehicles section.

That's all it is: A STORY

Often stories are fiction. Is that what you mean?

I agree. Several folks I know that use M1 do 15K OCIs with reg M1 or EP. Engines never seem to suffer for the longer OCIs.

I still prefer my Shell products, but have nothing but respect for M1 and it's proven durability over the years.

There are several good products available today. If M1 closed shop today my next OC would be PP.

I believe in what you've done yourself and what the other guy told you he's done with Mobil one. For whatever reason I think that you don't like me at all. Which is fine. However, that doesn't change the fact that I still believe in what you have observed in your vehicles for four decades. Your pics of the Fusion's motor were immaculate. I am running the Mobil Super Synthetic in my car and I like it quite well. Being that Havoline Pro DS may be totally going away in my area that leaves Mobil Super Synthetic has a very good option for me. Mobil seems to make products that over perform for their given price point.

I was waiting on a truck driver to pick up a shipment last year in his refrigerated truck. While waiting for the payload to be loaded into his truck I chatted with him a bit. He told me after he retired he purchased a refrigerated truck and his wife and him used to take runs for FedEx Custom Critical but his wife recently died so he was making runs solo. He said he sold his first truck with 500k miles on it to a friend and his new truck had over 300k miles on it. He was in his 70s but did all his own maintenance and only used Mobil 1 oil.

And it wasn't that great of a story... I'm guessing the biscuits were stale that day. Or maybe the ice tea was a little watered down.

Running M1 for 20K miles with a Fram Ultra filter change at 10K miles ... Why would you ? That's almost a two year OCI for most people ! Heck , assuming the other fellow was older or retired - I would want to get away from my wife by ducking under the vehicle more often than going with the OCI's he is running (lol !)
