oil filter changed, make-up oil 1 + 1/2 quarts over the 5 months. Just switched to Amsoil 5W-20, will do an UOA on it. Also switched back to MC 820s oil filter after many OCI's with M1 and K/N oil filters and around 3-5 seconds of startup noise has all but dissappeared, will likely stay with MC oil filter.

Looks like a dead tie. Can't see that the 5W30 was any advantage over the recomended 20w.

Oil had lot of life left. Why did you change it and why the brand switch? Could have easily gone double the miles.

buster, I'm hard headed.....after about 5 months of C-I-T-Y driving I break into these uncontrollable cold sweats wondering about the condition of my Iron Horses' motor oil

I'm really tryin' to change my thinking but it's hard. This last OCI went 5 months and 4K miles.....wasn't worth the personal anguish to me to push it further.

Cool, just curious. Well at least you know your safe with M1 EP for at least 8k miles or more even under those severe conditions.
