M1 0w20 5K 2004 Honda Accord V6

Here's my 2nd UOA. Accord 6 speed manual. OEM filters. No make up. Car driven 80% freeway 20% city. I do put my foot in it from time to time. OC history: Car bought 4/04. Factory fill in for 3,793. Next Honda 5W20 until 6,839. Next Honda OEM 5W20 until 9,834 (numbers to the left).

Then went to M1 0W20 until 14,826 (numbers to the right) - 3 months, 4,992 miles). From Blackstone....

Looks pretty good considering the extra mileage.
 
Nothing special here to recommend the Mobil-1 at these mileages over the Honda oil. You would expect to see the wear metals trending down still at those mileages, yet the ppm/kmiles rates are about the same, or certainly within the margin of error in the data.

None of the wear metal levels are at alarming rates, but if this were my experiment my conclusion would be that for sub 5,000 mile drain intervals there is little benefit from the ~$5/quart Mobil-1 over a good dino or blend.

Also, others have said that the Honda branded oil is most likely the same oil being sold OTC as Exxon Superflo 5W-20.

Looks like a fantastic UOA for a Honda V6 with 15K miles on it! Plenty of TBN left in it so I'd make a run up to 6-7.5K with the M1 0w20 and see what happens. That would offset the extra cost of the M1 0w20 and you would only have to change the oil half as often.
 
Looks good for a new motor. Interesting that the copper(supposed to be not wear related) went up a bit. Higher Iron *might* be due to M1 having some on virgin oil - otherwise it could have been lower.

Agreed that using M1 for 5k OCI is not cost effective when a cheaper dino oil basically would perform the same.

But actually in terms of ppm/1000 miles, it went down. I would look for it to go down next time. If not, be a little concerned.

Hahahahah..just noticed it myself. Its nice to have the change interval above in a column. And Blackstone's report isn't set up that way.
