It seems the only EVs that don't hit heavy weight status in their classes is Tesla.

Thats tech - massive stampings reduce hundreds of pounds of weight as well as allow removal of sub assemblies and welds that go with them simplifying the chassis. Unified computing on a network loop vs miles of copper and a dozen separate control units, hugely reduced/ consolidated plumbing...

Exactly. Teslas are pure play EVs; most others are ICE based platforms. Tesla wiring is optimally engineered; others are a can of worms.

That's why I own Teslas. I know I've not been shy to give my opinion of Musk, but there's not a brand that does what Tesla does. It's lighter and has better range for the size of it's battery. It's faster, the UI is better to use, and the OTA updates are just amazing. My favorite so far is matrix headlight functionality. The auto high beam was a hint dopey and was slow to react. It meant that I'd get flashed for my high beams staying on too long and then when the car would pass it would take longer than I like to come back on which is a problem in driving in pitch black at 60mph. Matrix is just next level when driving in these conditions. It's fun watching the banks of LEDs shut off to follow oncoming traffic while still keeping the road in front of me and the field lit up which is big with the amount of deer here. I haven't had a single person flash their lights at me since I got matrix.
I absolutely love my cars. I don't want anything else at this point. The only cars I like as much are ICE and I don't want to pay for the fuel or the maintenance for them as a daily driver.
The old M3P was done pulling hard after about 85 MPH. The new cars pull 60-130 in 10 seconds. Has to be 600 HP.
Im not seeing this, Im seeing $80,000 for most all vehicles. I just am pointing out for others. The word "truck" to some might think it has to be a real truck. No it does not. It can be a simple retired mom and pop small SUV.

Right, that’s what I meant. Trucks includes SUVs. Almost always does in the automotive world. My registration for my Y says truck on it. Anything that falls under a traditional car is capped at $55k. Cars like Lucid or even the Model S are too expensive to qualify.
I never doubted that you knew. Just clarified it for some others because my first thought went to the pick up truck category.
One of the first 100% - 0% Lucid Gravity range tests at 70 MPH. 358 miles. EPA is 450 miles. This is a GT with the smallest wheels.
As expected, it’s looking like the efficiency numbers were too good to be true. (And yes, I know the EPA test isn’t at 70 MPH, but it shouldn’t be this far off).

It’s called teaching to the test in education.
That's why you want to buy a vehicle that is an appreciating asset. Hagarty and Forbes in the USA and Car wow in the UK publish their list of vehicles that are likely to go up in value.

There are few to none on these lists that I would buy as a daily driver, and none that are tow vehicles.
If I were to dip into a lucid it would be part daily, and part tow vehicle.

Agreed, thats way off.
Although 3.1 isnt bad it would have to crack 4 to make it and it's certainly a ways off from that.
Curious to see what other indy tests show.
Lucid claims there was a problem with the rear motor on that run.

They were much closer on the various air models to EPA estimates.
358 is definitely far off from 450, but, it's still pretty high for highway speed range among larger EV SUVs. I mean this thing is pretty big. What does more in this size class? The Escalade IQ is close to 500, but it also costs north of $150K MSRP and has a battery that is nearly double the size of the Gravity. Maybe one of the largest battery Model Xs does more than 358. The longest range Kia EV9 is the Light Long Range and I think it's 304 EPA? Anyway.
