Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner needed if Costco gas is used often

Top tier or not gasoline has additives that clean. Spent the $$$ if it makes you feel, better. the best thing that can happen is the additive makes a difference the worst thing is there is no improvement.

I don't use fuel system/injector cleaners on a regular basis.

The LS, pretty much had 7-11, non-top tier fuel the entire time I've owned it; 17 years. I could count on one hand the number of times I added Regane to a tank of fuel.

FWIW, here's an example of an intake port when I had the manifold off back in April 2023, at 96k miles.

I use 90% top tier and 90% of that is Costco (if I don't use Costco it's usually TT QT). I usually keep a bottle of Regain or Techron around in case I take a road trip where Top Tier isn't widely available. Probably throw a bottle in every 5000 miles just in case. I'd prefer PEA.

I use Costco 93 for 2/3 of my vehicles that I fuel up b/c it's so much cheaper than anything around us AND it's Top Tier. I've never had an issue and that's in a performance car for one of them. I use a can of LM DI JEctron each oil change out of nothing more than a long-held habbit.

Just because it's top tier doesn't mean the quality of the gas is always clean and without water. Non-top tier is even a bigger risk. That's assuming they are even adding those additives (who truly knows). Plus they're not using proven cleaners like PEA and could be argued not enough fuel lubricants/conditioners. I would make it a habit to add a PEA cleaner like Techron and a UCL like Lucas every other fillup, whether you're going to Costco or the sketchy gas station down the street.

My gas is 10% ethanol. It's a great fuel system cleaner when used every day.

It's also drying out the gas and more reason to add the UCL. I've also read alcohols like ethanol and IPA do very minimal cleaning just like gasoline itself. It's amazing to see people come up with their own reasoning to justify not spending a few dollars.

What do you mean it dries out the gas????? I would not want any water in the gas. And alcohol is a pretty good cleaner when used all the time and not allowed to be exposed to the air. I haven't had any fuel related issues in modern equipment since the 80s when they first went to E10 around here.

It's more amazing that people convince themselves that they need to use additives on a regular basis when there is nothing to show that they're needed.

I agree that if you use regular nothing special gas on a regular basis, there's no benefit in using a fuel injector or carb additive. But if you have a car or truck that sits more than it's used, or only gets filled up every couple of month's, using a cleaner wouldn't hurt. When I fill up my gas can for my ope, I dose it with a cleaner, and might put some in the gas tank a few times per mowing season. My ope always starts and runs fine since I started doing that. It's easy to do, and cheaper and alot less pita, then taking carbs apart and cleaning them.,,
