My girlfriends 03 Jetta with 120,000 mile 2.0 burns oil. I just did a oil change this Saturday. I put some Castrol High Mileage 5w30 into the crankcase. When I was dumping the used oil at Napa. I picked up a bottle of LM Oil Saver for $5.79.

It really doesn't say what it's the bottle. On their MSDS. It states that 30-60% is Distillates, Solvent-dewaxed heavy paraffinic, with other stuff making up the rest.

Would it be ok to add this to the Castrol High Mileage?

I'd wait till it gets warmer. That stuff thickens up the oil. I'm not bashing the product, the company is top shelf and has some very good products, some of which I use.

It will only thicken the oil slightly, as the product's main purpose is to rejuvenate seals (depending on the material used). If you use a 5w30, for instance, you will end up with something close to a 5W-40. That said, there would be no problems using it with a high mileage oil.

For full product effectiveness, I would recommend their Pro-Line Engine Flush before changing your oil and using the product to clean the ring packs.

There's no problem mixing MoS2 and Motor Oil Saver together, I use them together myself.

Did the reps you've spoken to ever mention whether this stuff had any esters in it (for that express seal rejuvenation purpose)??

Just sent an email to the R&D Manager, will let you know what he says.

I'm pretty sure there are no esters. It is a very strong smelling product, so it probably has less expensive plasticizers in it.

Dear -,

Yes, it is a type of ester in Motor Oil Saver as a seal sweller.

I wouldn't compare it to STP's Smoke Treatment to be honest. The STP only serves to thicken the oil and mask the problem, whereas Motor Oil Saver actually swells the seals over the course of 800 km (500 miles). It's also TUV approved, and I have had excellent results with it in multiple vehicles with oil leaks and bad valve seals.

I checked my girlfrineds oil level today. It was still on the full line. She drove over 500 miles this week on the Castrol High Mileage 5w30. I will be checking the oil level every week during the OCI. I was planning to put in this product, but the Castrol High Mileage is doing its thing as of now.

That surprises me. It has a very harsh chemical smell that I would not associate with esters.

I've had very good success with using this on my 2004 Lincoln LS V6. I had a few leaks around the oil pan gasket and over the course of 1000 miles, the leak appears to be gone. I'm impressed by it and recommend it.

Does this product have to be added into fresh oil? Or can it be added say 2000 miles into a 5000 mile OCI, as top up oil?

It can be added at any time, although I'm not sure how good it would be as a top up, considering it is only 300 ml.

I typically top up when I'm down 1/2 qt, so I can use the Oil Saver and a small amount of oil to = a pint.
