Here's a plan:

Change oil to a 0W-40 and use a 20k XGFram filter ...Mityvac a quart out every 2.5k then replace it with 1qt. fresh, simple.

that's 7qt. of new synthetic oil over 20k in a 3.5qt. sump.

any reason this won't protect for 20k?

Ya doing it wrong - do it at least three times as often with 1/3 qt change every time...

Do you know for sure that you have a diluter? Do some normal OCI's and send samples out for analysis to see if you really have fuel dilution, and how much. Then you can see the amount of viscosity loss and decide on a strategy for managing it.

You seem so unhappy with your purchase. Keep it for a year or two on normal OCI, using recommeded oil and trade it in. Maybe the new owner will appreciate it more. Next vehicle, do some hard-core research so you're not in this same situation again.

course, who's happy with dilution? just learning how to live with it...other than the dilution I'm impressed so not all sour.

The other issue is the capacity grows over the full mark significantly, imagine putting pressure on seals, pvc system.

Full oil changes are a problem with the ramps and the skid plate w/8 weird fasteners especially during winter here, the Mightyvac is quick and clean.

I've done 7500 to 9000 on synthetic and would not worry about 10k in a non DI engine. In a DI engine i think would run a 0w 40 or 5w 40 and change based on a few uoa's. Our next vehicle , if its DI , will get HDEO 5w 40 and go no longer than 5k.

What you could do is follow the factory service interval and then cut it loose in a few years...

Clearly this reliable piece of Japanese engineering will be a headache to own long term.

You will have to remind me what your sump capacity is. I wonder if this plan leads to accumulating fuel dilution from the oil left in the crankcase over time.

Okay, that's a small sump so you are roughly changing one third of the oil each time.

If I remember correctly you do a lot of short tripping. Long trips would help the cause here.
