Lubri Moly Mos2 in a new Subaru Outback

No ILSAC oil has micro powder moly emulsion in it. Munifacturers and OIl formulators are searching for every last MPG. If it worked and didn't do damage (or FAIL a sequence) why would it not be in at least a FEW formulations?

I see only fanboy logic here and no greek logic.

But if it puts wind in your sails, by gump Go for it!

A slight overdose of moly becomes AW. I remembered a paper a few years ago that showed the moly particles filling asperities (fresh machining marks), as many think is exactly helpful in breakin.

Motor oil needs to work for many different users, from the vehicle used every other weekend during the summer that sits all winter (where MOS2 will settle out) to a daily driver (where it won't).

There are a lot of users here who don't seem to have had any issues using MOS2 additives. Not all report any improvements in fuel mileage but there are very few who report any negative effects. It is possible your engine failure nothing to do with the moly you added, it was just bad timing.

I cant argue that point, I agree.

I am semi-retired and working in manufacturing Quality Assurance and I am familiar with the above concepts.

I even had attended a week-long seminar at the Cape featuring Edwards Demming the "father of Quality Control" way back in the early 80's - if Bonnie Small was the mother
