Lubegard oil additive - any good?

Being that you like to bring up courtrooms. it's a shame I can't get you before a judge in a courtroom. Your own inconsistent stand on "personal testimony" et al would just get your case tossed.

So where is all the proof this stuff works? Which standards should we use? Internal engine pics perhaps?

I'd use your standard, but it changes depending on the product.

Bought and poured in a bottle myself. I would post my findings in a month or so, but I have no clue as to which standard I should use. And since you posted that you want results verified, you haven't posted a list of those you trust to verify. So I'm at a loss here.

Post your results Trajan, someone might care. I have a feeling about the results, but I will keep that to myself.

This is a Lubegard thread...

Please. Pretty please. With LubeGard on top.

I planning on using Lubegard engine flush at my next oci.

But it might be a while away as I'm doing low miles on the vehicle in question and am running one year plus oci's.

Lubegard engine flush is non solvent so this minimizes the risk of using an additive in the oil. While the engine seems extremely clean, I've had severe carbon in the fuel system and I suspect there may be carbon in the rings. The reason for this suspicion is that multiple Techron treatments were not enough to clean things up in the combustion chamber. There was a remaining scraping sound that a fuel cleaning service took care of.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Lubegard engine flush makes a difference.

So its on record, the parts of the engine that are visible to me are already clean. I'm looking to clean working parts that I cannot see that I suspect are dirty and whose cleaning will improve performance and maybe mpg. I won't be doing any before and after compression testing as my direct observations on performance should be enough especially since that is what I'm looking to improve.

If nothing changes, it could be because everything is already clean. If i remember, I will do a before and after blot test from dipstick oil.

As I go in to do this, I am fully aware that I won't be able to infer from a positive result that the flush is fully effective or from a negative result whether it was ineffective because we don't know if there are deposits for it to clean.

I think its important to not shift standards when evaluating additives. And to have a reasonable expectation which includes being clear about what the additive is really for and whether you evaluation criteria makes sense. I still find it hard to understand the preoccupation with cleaning non working parts as opposed to tangible performance. I've seen pages and pages of comment about things that don't matter.

I do have an update on the LubeGard I'm running in the "newer to me" '98 Saturn SC@ "Red Hot" that cannot be left unsaid. Never used LubeGard in an engine before and I've been driving for 37 years now.

I've driven these Saturns for years and know their engine's lack of smoothness, vibrations, etc.

This engine, even though I only had it a few weeks before the LubeGard went in, was no different. It had the same feel, like rawness, partially due to the timing chain & engine design.

NOW, with the LubeGard in for several hundred miles:

NO exaggeration: This DOHC rev's so "freely" now. It's silky smooth, kind of like the drag & rawness is dramatically reduced!

Another way to say it is like it's reving similar to being in "Neutral" without the drag of being in gear!

Never really experienced this difference before in any engine and it must be noted...

Be careful Turk anecdotal evidence, personal testimony/experiences not backed up with scientific proof can get you in hot water with some of our members. Funny thing is these same guys show no scientific proof to back up their favorite products either.

I think the product is great. Nice report!

Yea, I know all that being a Six Sigma guy.

These results are real, even though I did not take apart the engine to measure the delta of surface energies.

You're one of a few members I call respected members, I believe you. I also use and like the product.

Thanks. Also, research "Microfluidics" or "Flow Cytometry". It's actually pretty cool.

I have been using TC-W3 in the gas for near a year now in my SL2 and it has really smoothed out the idle, no doubt. I wonder if a little more help from this product would give a marked improvement? I will be looking to Turk's observations.

i do add an oz of red lines two stroke racing oil to a bottle of si-1
of course, there is nothing better then lubgard,bg products are a distant 2nd.i feel i have the perfect mixture of lubegard 18oz.to my red line oil.

Me neither. Never even tried LubeGard Bio-Tech before.

Just am completely impressed with the results.

Now, I need 500 more miles on my other Saturn to do a used oil analysis, re-fill with the LubeGard added and see if I get similar results on the same DOHC engine, along with a follow-up used oil analysis!

Please post your opinion of the stuff if you don't mind. I've never read a bad review on LG products and I consider you a car guy and car guys tend to be a bit more in tune to their vehicles and how they run.
I know I can feel if something is wrong or improved with my vehicles but I live in them.
I look forward to reading your experience

Clevy,

I did -- it's on the middle of page 9.

If you take a look at the comparisons of treated motor oil vs non treated, it seems like lubegard is still using VERY old formulations of motor and transmission oils.

I wonder why?
Why not update or use SN GF-5 oils? Hmmmmmmm
