All just conversation! Heaven forbid.
I wonder how many testimonials it would take to equal 1 compensated spokesperson's opinion.
Anyways I think the op fund his answer. I started at the beginning and stunkship actually posted in this before the various new personas. Hehehe.
But since I'm here I might as well offer up a faceless opinion.

And I don't have one. I've not been able to acquire any however every single testimonial in the various forums I am a member of are typically of a happy customer and the product functioned as advertised.
I think they are like liqui-moly in that their advertising is more than just hollow empty words. I'd like to try something out though but I don't have anything that needs miracle in a can right now.
And I'm pretty partial to liqui-moly and their additives, simply because its money well spent, due to the product works as advertised however if lube guard makes something that I may need, and liqui-moly doesn't make a suitable product

Lets see, 1 compensated spokesperson's opinion = how many testimonials? And the answer is: if the product in question runs up against a person who hates it one negative testimonies would = 1,000 compensated spokesperson's testimony in that instance. OTOH if the same person likes the product, the numbers will work in reverse. Then heated discussion will follow in both cases, and odds are the thread will resemble several others, and probably get locked. LOL

You guys are funny.
lol.gif

Well, we'll see how this baby turns out a used oil analysis @ 4,000 miles on it.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!!!!
lol.gif

I just so happen to have a 2000 Saturn SL2 "Creampuff" as you may remember (good or bad...) That for sure has a cold start knock and I know it well AND has a previously "STELLAR" used oil analysis...

LubeGard is FOR SURE going in at the next oil change (very soon)!!

Perhaps I should:

- Do a audio/video of the knock before & after the Lubegard

- Do a set of used oil analysis before & after the LubeGard

Now, THAT should be interesting, eh??

We love anecdotal,non-scientific,uncompensated (sorry arx guys)and unsolicited posts from anyone without an agenda.
As soon as we see agenda we get the thread locked, just givin' ya a heads up

Hehehe. Yeah. I'd be interested in whatever you're experiences are.

I recall that "creampuff"! Go for it! But to keep it fair shouldn't you do three runs with the LG for maximum effect before the UOA? LOL

As posted in the last ARX thread:

Who said that there is something wrong with photographs of the interior of the engine? And why would there be a problem with photographs of the interior? A engine cleaning product should clean. If the product does clean then there is positive evidence that the product works. If the product does not clean there there is evidence that the product does not work as advertised.

Of course, that's never asked/demanded of mmo or kreen. Nor is it claimed that all those personal testimony/anecdote/what have you can be faked with anything except ARX...

Good grief, I have to spell things out and explain things again? I will take whatever evidence there is for a product; photographs, compression testing, whatever. That goes for any product. We want to see any and all evidence for any product-MMO, Kreen, Auto-RX, Lubegard, whatever. I am going to stop saying that. Enough is enough. I should not have to repeat myself over and over again.

Artem tested several products in a car he owned. We were interested in the testing for ALL OF THOSE PRODUCTS! Everybody checked out the evidence for Kreen, Auto-RX, Pennzoil Ultra, etc.

'...can be faked with anything except ARX.' Are you saying that Auto-RX has been proven scientifically, because if that is what you are saying I would like to see the proof, and I don't mean compression testing done by one guy.

Here we go..............Remember Mystic a picture is worth a thousand words, and can be photo-shopped and fake too, which could make it worth even more words. Compression tests can be easily faked, and testimony can be total B_S. It all depends on the source and if "you" believe that source is credible. So once again we're right back to where we began.

Lets see how long this thread takes to get locked.

Yes, do the audio/video thing. No cost involved, unlike UOA that may or may not show anything interesting.

Now, why exactly do your cars have those cold start knocks?

It is true that somebody could fake a photograph. In fact, somebody could do before and after photographs and clean the engine up by hand and then claim that a product worked. So really there is no 100% proof for a product using photographs or compression testing or whatever. But if 100 guys here try a product and 90% of them say that the product seemed to do something for them I sit up and take notice. I think it is unlikely that so many guys will be lying or mistaken. I do think personal testimony counts for something. If it is just one guy's testimony it could be discounted. But if a considerable number of guys try a product and most report that the product appears to work I think that potentially means something.

Something else I look for is if a product has been fined by the FTC for false advertising. For me personally that is the kiss of death for a product. I would not use any product where the company that made the product had been fined. Good examples are STP and Duralube, and for that matter Slick50 although Slick50 apparently has been reformulated and is not the same product it was.

On the other side of the coin we have a product here where we were being told by the product promoters there was proof it worked because of compression tests allegedly done by one guy. In fact we were being told that no photography of the engine interior was necessary because the compression testing proved everything that needed to be proved. I think personal testimony from 100 guys that a product works is more valuable than undocumented compression testing by one guy.

In any case the scientific proof that the product promoters demand will probably never be available for any of these products including the product that the promoters try to promote. Only if some product was made by a major oil company would there be some actual lab testing data available because only the oil companies could really afford to test an engine cleaner or oil supplement. Valvoline made an oil supplement for a while and they probably had actual test data. And LM makes an engine flush and they probably have actual test data.

Mystic the bottom line is this: There is more than one product that can raise compression and clean up an engine. I posted compression results for a 250 I-6 Chevy engine. The people that want to believe the results can, the people who don't want to believe the results don't have to believe them. We've heard 100's of engine cleaning stories too from various products, people can believe what they want. Until there's some form of concrete evidence that everyone can agree upon, we will always end up having these same discussions/arguments/disagreements, and hi-jacked threads.

Yes, this is a Lubegard post and I for one think it works. I have been impressed by Lubegard products in general and Lubegard Biotech Engine Oil Supplement made a difference in my engine. As soon as I added the stuff the engine seemed to run smoother. That is my testimony and others here have noticed a difference as well.

Now I have not used Lubegard in quite a while and the next oil change I think I will try the LM moly oil supplement. I have not tried it and a lot of people say it works. But Lubegard did work for me.

Great idea Turk!

There is a big difference between a company like Lubegard and others that produce products like Duralube. I have been impressed with Lubegard for a long time.

If someone says it made their engine run smoother/quieter, I take them at their word.

They are NOT claiming this to be any "miracle in a bottle" with nano sized technicians/mechanics floating in the solution (
crackmeup2.gif
), nor that their engine will last 3 million miles without a rebuild, nor that it reduced friction/wear to zero.

JUST that it toned down/smoothed out a rough engine, THAT'S ALL!

I think we should take somebody at their word here unless somebody demonstrates that they are deceptive. I don't know how any of these various engine cleaners and oil supplements can be checked out by people here except for people trying them and reporting what they find out. So we basically have personal testimony and photos and compression testing if possible. Last time I checked personal testimony was still acceptable in a courtroom of law.

My feeling is if a lot of guys, say 50, try something out like Lubegard Biotech Engine Oil Supplement, and if the overwhelming majority of those guys say that it seemed to make a positive difference then maybe we have a product worth trying. If only one guy has checked out a product what can you say?

The only engine cleaners and oil supplements likely to have gone through scientific testing would be products made by major oil companies. For example, LM makes an engine flush. I assume it has gone through testing. And Valvoline used to make their own oil supplements so I assume those products went through testing. Valvoline also makes an engine flush.

If nobody was willing to try these products the Oil Additives Section here would have to be shut down. How many products could we talk about here in the Oil Additives Section if scientific proof in a lab was expected?

Well Trajan just to clear a few things up: According to you the only people who can provide proof [which is basically their testimony and compression results] that meets your approval is DNewton and Gary Allan [RIP]. My testimony is worthless to you, as is the testimony of others, no problem. I respect what Dave and Gary claimed, but I think the data Trav presented was also compelling, and true, so I'd add him to your short list. BTW he used your favorite cocktail in many applications and it didn't work. Does that make him a liar? He was called a liar, and false claims were made that he never bought the product. LOL

the more things change, the more they remain the same.

I'm still doing what I do, and I am not posting for Trajan's benefit. Note I have NEVER been to the ARX website to visit a forum, only when I was dumb enough to actually buy some of it!

You guys knew this was coming...
