As the subject states would adding Lubegard to the ATF that is used in a 06' GTO 6spd trans be of any benifit? I'm already running Amsoil ATF in the trans.
There have been MANY cases of RP Synchromax (as well as RL D4, and any of the various boutique MTLs) KILLING the blocker rings in the T56 transmission in the GTO/Vette/F bodies. According to some very reputable rebuilders of this trans, the only "safe" options for the T56 are; mineral Dex 3 (not very good shear/heat resistance, only OK IF you are going to change it often), GM/Pennzoil Synchromesh (harder to shift in cold, still shears down in heat) and the best they have found for a STOCK, unrebuilt T56; Mobil 1 ATF (believe it or not!!!).

Before this thread goes way OT, which LG product specifically? If referring to LG's FM products, one would think these would mess with synchonizer function.

First of all, call the source, Tremec themselves, and ask about fluids (THEY will tell you NOTHING but mineral Dex 3 should EVER go in these things!!). Next, the reasons are that the blockers are made of a cellulose fiber material which is very prone to swelling/deterioration due to base stocks (esters are the WORST in this case) and add packs (RP's seems like the worst in this case). As well as whatever FMs/other additives are in all of the "boutiques".
The rebuilders are Six Speeds Inc., and they must have done at least 1500 T56 rebuilds by now.
I personally had RP Synchromax in mine and dumped it within 3 days due to the worst shifting I've ever experienced in ANY manual trans I've owned. I figured if the shifting is THAT bad, this stuff HAS TO BE hurting the synchros, at least, if not other internals. I refilled with Pennzoil Dex 3 and it was fine. But I DO plan on trying Mobil 1 ATF on the next change.
