Just wondering if this stuff works or if you guys wouldn't recommend it, and why? I know AutoRX seems to be the most widely used stuff here. I just ask because i have almost a gallon left from when I owned my diesel, but I didn't own the truck long enough once I started using the LC20 to see if it actually cleaned it out good. I know it smells pretty wicked.

LC20 is a great product. It combats oxidation and helps the oil to remain in great shape longer.

Auto-RX is a better/safer cleaner because it is slower and you need not dilute your oil with any real quantities in order to do what it is meant to. That said, LC20 will help clean, and keep clean once things are at a good operating point.

It does what it says it does - very well.

I have used LC20 for over 3 years now in 5 different vehicles and am very pleased. It has improved the fuel economy in each one and quieted and smoothed the running/idling of each.

2 of these vehicles were new to me, but used when I purchased them, one with 49k miles and 1 with 18k miles - I found it interesting that when using LC20 on both these vehicles, it made the oil get very dark very quickly during the first 2 OCIs (5000 OCIs) and by the 3rd OCI, it darkened much slower.

Others may not agree, but I think it was cleaning out all the built up gunk over the first 2 OCIs and by the 3rd, was just keeping all the "normal" carbon, etc that occurs through normal running cleaned up.

IMHO, LC20 is an excellent cleaner and does not get near enough credit for being so - just because it is titled an "oil antioxidant" does not mean it is not also a very, very good cleaner as well.

I am glad to see this thread because LC20 does not get near enough discussion and/or credit on this board anymore for just how good it is - my 2 cents.

Well, it may also have something to do with some hiccups that a lot of people had regarding their purchase of FP60 when it first came out. LCD is a small company and I believe they do more business with bulk orders than they do with small consumers.

LC20 is basic chemistry that works. I, myself, was displeased that it did not remove my particular deposits the way arx did. That doesn't mean it hasn't worked for others and that doesn't mean it doesn't do what it says it does with regard to its anti-oxidant capabilities. I rate the smell of it right up there with Neutra as my favorite!

It used to be discussed a lot in relation to it's use in the "molasoak."

I use it religiously in a diesel w/150k and a sludge prone Toyota V6 w/108k and they are both clean as can be. Good product.

+2…I use it in the same thing; toyos, diesel, pressure washers and Lc20 works..I agree with Brian here, they mostly sell too business and very small amount goes to “you and me”. There emails/ posts are always pleasant, easy to read and it works…As Jax stated, it does clean and does it very well; at least in my engines. Under valve covers looks new..Funny part is first time added, oil gets dark within 1K miles. Now, over 100K later, it does not get ½ that dark in 10K miles.

It seems they do not post much and I wish they did, a nice product for over 60+ years that still works..I doubled my drain from 5 to 10,000 miles and UOA are nice, very nice…YMMV.

With my '95 Civic I noticed pretty much the same thing; it takes a LOT longer to darken than when I first got the rig. There are probably at least two reasons this occurs that I can think of... LC20 with AMSOIL HDD seems to work *very* well for me, YMMV...

Yeah, I wish LCD would post here more too, I often wonder why they don't (I'd be banned with dispatch if I mentioned why I think they do not). They really do have some excellent products and I am a very satisfied customer.

They haven't sent me any emails offering any specials on FP60 and LC20 in over 6 months.

Moribundman: I posted in their company forum... with this same question 2 yrs. ago... checking back every few days for the first yr.... never a reply... So I just never visited back.

I know the new owners are very very busy... I just visted back a few months ago... they don't even have the forum anylonger.

I used to receive discount codes and e-mails from them all the time many yrs ago... now nothing. I know they have only a handfull of employees and are very busy... so I didn't mind.

They even quit making FP Plus for diesels... So I will quit buying from them.... They have great products... just none that I use now.

I just added 6 oz. of LC20 to my van today, and I seem to have a smoother idle. I also added fuel injector cleaner today, so the cause isn't definitive, but so far I'm pleased. Does anyone know what's in LC20? I've looked at the FAQs and, I didn't see any mention of ingredients.

It's on here if you search hard enough. Granted, I don't know the entire ingredient list...but the main component is. I believe there's actually a link to a copy of the original application patent.

Back to the original question...
Auto-Rx and LC20 mainly do different jobs, and each does their job very well. Nothing cleans as well as Auto-Rx short of a teardown. I prefer LC20 for continuous use both to keep the engine clean after the A-Rx cleaning and for LC20 to keep the oil in good condition for more miles.

Interesting - I just verified it is off the sales site.

Surely they still make FP Plus for Diesel - as this is a bigger seller for them with their commercial customers.

Could be they have too much demand on the commercial side to bottle it up for the consumer side - they have taken products off the site in the past when they had shortages as they do make this stuff up in batches.... or it could be they just did not sell enough to consumers to bother continuing to support.

Also, LCD has stated in the past that the FP Plus for gasoline can also be used in diesels and it works just fine, just not vice versa - although the gas formula would likely be giving up some of it's benefit for diesels (possibly less lubricity gain?).

Proof is in the pictures. LC works great, it cleans well and keeps the oil in shape. Well worth it IMO.

Been using LC on this car for around
80K (188K total miles on the car) when this photo was taken:
