Specifically when NOT towing or heavy loads, what psi are you running? 265/70/17 LT tires I’m running 44-45 psi w just the smart cap and a plastic container of tools, etc on the bed, and it’s a little stiff but I’m ok w how it rides. Should I run higher, lower, or stay put? Max is 80 psi stated on the tire.

Depends on the brand. If it has a stiffer sidewall, then drop it down a bit, say 35-40. The fact that you're stiff with no load tells me too much air.

Load inflation tables are standardized. So the load capacity at any given PSI is the same for any LT 265/70R17.

Your tires can support 2255 lbs each at 45 PSI. To find the actual weight being supported by each tire, you need to find a certified scale to weigh each tire individually, or just weigh each axle to get a ballpark weight on each tire.

Here's a tire inflation table, and info on other tire questions.

On my 1/2 ton pickups I usually run around 39 PSI with LT tires. 38 - 39 PSI usually looks better on the footprint test with paper. Than say 42 - 45 PSI.

On a small truck like that I would probably bring it down to 35... and dial it in based on ride quality and efficiency and stuff.

The door placard for the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon says 35 psi for front and rear. I wouldn't run over 40 psi in the LT tires unless it's loaded or towing.
