The chances of them destroying their motor with a 5w40 are pretty slim, but put 5w20 in an LS1 and run 300F oil temps, and you can kiss that motor goodbye pretty quick.

Come on Patman, who said anyone should run 5w20 in an LS1 and run it at 300F oil temps. In the same light, your GC at 300F is the same viscosity as a typical 5w20 is at 266F. Will the engine running 5w20 is at 266F self destruct significantly quicker than GC at 300F?

In regards to the 5w20 comment, I know that not many people have recommended it for the LS1, but I was just trying to make a point that's it's safer to recommend a thicker oil to LS1 owners than to recommend a thinner oil.

If I was seeing 300F temps on a regular basis I would not be comfortable with GC either. Luckily for me I don't see temps like that. I rarely see my temps go above 210 in my driving. I did see it hit 227 once, but it was on a very hot summer day, stuck in traffic with the AC on. My idle oil pressure was still above 26psi though, and I wasn't pushing the car hard, so I wasn't too worried.

I answered your PM about the Hendricks spinner assemblies.

Sarge, not sure if your aware of this or not, but you have Henricks spinner assembly...not a Hendricks Motorsports spinner assembly.

I think we should all just sit back and take a break, it's PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!

427, causing trouble again.... Hate to break it to you but you don't know everything. Sarge simply gave his opinion and after going back and reading them, he did nothing wrong. You seem to think you are above everyone else just by the way you write. Please don't chase another good member away.

OK buster, anything you say. Besides, I need to drive south and look at a Hendricks Motorsports spinner assembly.

Just relax man...(I should take my own advice)...I just don't want to see people avoid threads bc they get side tracked etc. It's stupid stuff we argue about....

Wow ..I thought that this was mild, actually. Really. No one getting too excited (excited is the term my old hand engine builder uses for "upset"). Looked pretty civil to me

Single 1K and 1.5K mile used oil analysis on an aftermarket rebuild? What a joke! Almost as funny as all those stickers all over your car. Is that what they give you when you buy a "Hendricks Motorsports" rotating assembly?

You're lucky most people here don't know what bull you're peddling.

Your too easy. Those "stickers" are called sponsors. Something you know nothing about. And yes lots and lots of people are watching this string and absolutely having a blast with you and your total ignorance of reality. Lets see your Z06 there Big boy. And I'll put my reputation up against yours any old day there toad. We got you and you dont even realize it do you

What a moron.

I've been enjoying this thread.
Sort of off-topic but Pennzoil Platinum 5W-40 was mentioned. Where was it bought from? Someone said they got it a quickie lube Pennzoil place.

So if I went with Rotella T Syn 5w40 should I just dump the current GC in my engine and pour in the Rotella or would a Auto RX cycle help the switch?

Yep...just like you have a Hendricks Motorsports rotating assembly.

OK I guess since the LS1 forums are chomping at the bit and my PM inbox here is full, I'll point out the obvious for you 427Z06.
I guess you gave up on slamming my recommendation of the XX-40 weight after #@$%! near everybody called you out as wrong as #@$%!. You sorta let that slide. But your insentance of posting "links" to proove your side of the discussion and your A1 detective work just opened you up man.
Hendricks/Hendrix/Henricks whatever. I gave you the contact info to verify. Get it? Who were you talking to 427Z06? Me maybe?
smile.gif
My partner maybe?:) So what do you do? Run back to your PC and type away that you have no uncovered a big conspiracy and this is actual fact and I 427Z06 am right and SargeGTO is wrong. One PM I got I gotta share with your flatheaded butt. " Just ignore him. He does not even have a Z06 and he is a blowhard" that pretty much sums up what a boatload of your fellow BITOG members think of your "post" and your rep there stud. Put your waders on for sure there sunshine. You need em
smile.gif
It was fun anyway. And anytimne you wish to go head to head with me on any forum concerning engines/oil/chassis setups anything. Fire away. Henricks/Hendricks/Hendrix LOL. What a dorfus.

My 2 cents says try some Amsoil 5w30 or Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and see what happens. I would not rinse the engine. I think you will be happy with one of those.

0w30 is bad juju for GM motors IMO...
