I may as well start the thread since it's going below 0ºF (-18ºC) again tonight. And I know I'm a geek.

What's the lowest temps you've seen this season and what oil are you using? I know it'll be mostly you Canadians posting. Thanks all.

-3ºF (-19ºC)

, no problems

Looks like we are going to have a rough winter, last two winters it got down to 30F min, it got down to 32F this season and the coldest weather is a month away. Who knows, it may get clear down to 28F once or twice this year.

Well winter is just getting started for us in Michigan.

25F 10W30 MotorCraft Super Duty
25F 0W30 M1R

We should see some temps in the -10F to -20F as winter continues.

Im here in Colorado with yea! Should be about 1 tonight

Over the holiday, we were up near Fairplay/Alma at my parents cabin. -5F starting wasn't an issue whatsoever with Havoline 5w-30 in my car; GTX high mileage 5w-30 in my parents vehicles was good to go as well, although my Dad's truck sounds like it'll lose a rod at anytime when started dead cold now adays

The winter is still young. So far, around 0 F or -18 C. It can easily dip to -40 in Dec/Jan.

I've had good luck with Mobil 1 0W-30 or Esso XD-3 0W-30 for those temps.

Already one Artic cold front move through and it got down to 39F last Thursday. Suppose to have another Artic cold front move through tomorrow and get down to 34F by Wednesday. Looks like were in for a very cold winter if this keeps up.

Garage, no heaters, GC 0w30, and since it was 85F today I had to run the AC after starting up.

We've had an abnormally warm fall/early winter season here. I heard on the local weather that no Minnesota reporting station has reported a temperature below 0 deg F yet this season, which is very rare. Also, tonight the Twin Cities is expected to record its first low reading in the teens ABOVE zero, every other night so far has been 20 deg F or above.

I'm all for global warming, makes that 0W rated stuff pump MUCH nicer.

Down to the low double digits, possibly single digit temps at night. Warming up to the 30s during the hottest part of the day.

Mobil 1 5W-30.

AC/Delco filter.

Maximum 10 minute warm-up before driving slowly away.

It hasn't been very cold here yet at all. The coldest morning has been 28F. I do expect a couple of days below 0F for sure this season.

I'm using GC 0w30 (as if anyone on here didn't know that)

Big suprise there....

Supposed to get down to a chilly 38F tomorrow. Brrrr
High of only 57. I feel sorry for you people up north, but that's one of the reasons I live where I do. I don't like the cold.

Oh, BTW, to get back on topic, GC 0w-30 in the Hyundai, Valvoline 10w-30 in the Jeep.

It hasn't been colder than the mid twenties yet, but I expect to see -15°F or so this winter.

0w-30 GC in both the XJ and the Outback.

26°F the other night (felt like -458°F)...wet frozen fog....

Volvo 850 with Amsoil Euro 5W-40 cranked right up

This am 32°F

Amsoil/Pennzoil 15W-40 50/50 mix in Volvo 240 cranked up, but not as well as my usual straight Amsoil 15W-40. May sweat BB's this winter.

Edmonton Alberta Canada -- got down to about -45C last winter on the coldest night of the season, So far this year has been exceptionally warm with about -12C being the coldest we've seen. I run 0W-30 GC in the '01 VW-GTI, 5W-30 Mobil 1 in the '00 Venture, 0W-40 Rotella synthetic in the '91 Acura and 5W-50 CTC synthetic in the 89 Dodge. All vehicles are prewarmed with block or oil (VW) heaters for an hour or so before starting when the temp dips below -20C. Have had no problems with starting and only warm up fo a minute or so when it is below -25C -- mainly to get some heat to the windshield defroster.

Supposed to get down to 38 degrees in Huntington Beach tonight. Brrr cold to me. Thats about 10 degrees below normal, but well off the record low for the day of 31 degrees.

We're just getting started here in NC. Coldest morning start so far has been 27ºF. The lowest of the year will probably be 7-9ºF overnight in Jan. or Feb., unless this is an unusually cold year. I'm good to go now, just did winter oil changes on all 3 vehicles within the last month.

Last year it was neg 40F for a week. I hope this year it won't go past neg 20F.

1.3L Aspire - AMSOIL ASL 5w30
4.6L Crown Vic - Mobil DC 5w30 (auto-rx rinse)
4.6L F150 - AMSOIL ASL 5w30
5.4L 04 F150 (dad's) - MC 5w20
5.0L 78 Monte Carlo - DC 5w30
3.5L Sebring - AMSOIL HDD 5w30
80-something corolla - AMSOIL HDD 5w30 (Oil is worth more than the car...I was out of ASL that day).

Last winter (even in neg 40F) I was using AMSOIL ATM 10w30 in the crown vic and had no troubles at startup. I'm sure it wasn't the best idea though.

We normally have ave lows around 15F, but do see -10 to -15F once in a while.

This year I'm running a 50/50 blend of Chevron Supreme 5w-20 and Chevron DELO 10w-40. Both my 5.3L Suburban and my Mercury Villager will get this tasty mixture.

Low tonight should be 24, figure 28 when I start it up at 6am...Schaeffer's 15w-40...starts easy with no noise
