Lots of new Ram trucks rotting on dealer lots it seems

I think many / most brands have some problems selling and the last several years was just an odd "good" time for them. Supply was limited and people have money and low interest to spend, and they will outbid each other for ridiculous price above MSRP. This parts shortage have gradually gone away and interest rate is now "high" relatively speaking, plus banks are starting to see some loans are not worth making (subprime, commercial real estate, etc) both because of the interest rate of Fed loans and the risk of used car prices crashing.

I don't know if China's economy collapse is making it worse for the US market indirectly (weakening the automakers, unable to import parts due to trade wars, or they have to indirectly sell cars to 3rd world from China and reduce US / Europe / Japan export, etc), but I know for sure it is not helping.

This is just a perfect storm for overpriced pickup and SUVs they were still building for the pandemic time. I wish they are nimble enough to switch to something easier to sell. Prius and Corollas are still selling well, so why don't they make the equivalent? (because they were short sighted and cancelled them already).
Good post, except the China economic "collapse".

Although nothing reported out of China can ever be trusted, last weeks economic reports show china crushed it economically last quarter, significantly exceeding every expectation. The China industrial output simply crushed it , it is reported China is rocking it. While us economic output was disappointing, China had very positive things economically. This is significant for numerous reasons, very significant.

You learn several things in life. One of the things I learned in life is that dealer reviews are useless. Because they will give some a free oil change if they give them a high rating. I was given a $50.00 gift card if I would leave a favorable review.

They also hire companies to post fake positive reviews to bury the negative ones.

Right-I like how you can peruse the reviews on Amazon. You can drill down to the "not so favorable reviews" using a drop down menu. Those have made the difference in purchase decisions when my wife or I by something off the website.

No one is espousing the opinion that Ford is the highest reliability, let alone their F-150.
I mean, that was effectively the conversation GON and I had. Also, this thread is about RAM, so their comparison to their peers (Ford/GM) in this respect (TCO) is relevant.

You mentioned that these trucks were rotting, how long does that take?
There are still a not insignificant number of Brand new 2021/2022 Ram 3/4 tons sitting never titled in dealers across the country.

That’s going on 4 model years ago, I would consider that rotting

AS many know-I bought an F150 a couple of years ago. The transmission was a total piece of garbage. And if you can't sleep at night- google "F-150 10 speed transmission issues.
Traded it in for a Silverado-which (has a similar transmission) ironically co-developed by Ford-but the transmission is a night and day difference over the Ford. Other owners have stated this as well.

I meant keeping a $10K used car and putting personal finances before an impulsive purchase they will regret if money gets tight.
You need to compare apple to apple. Your useful life of a 10k car is much lower than a 20k new car, and cannot compare it that way.

I do agree that it makes no sense spending money on fancy cars, but between new corolla vs used corolla, really depends on how reliable you need it to be.

The 10 speed was actually developed completely by Ford, GM just put their own software on top of the hardware and did a much better job by all accounts; haven't owned either one.

Not sure when the Apple Car comes out - but gonna be expensive and a new model will make you feel inadequate in just two years …

Designed - not manufactured - which includes material selection and QA/QC …

Why does everyone feel buying a new vehicle is an impulsive purchase? Some of these anti new car posts reek of jealousy-sorry just calling it the way I see it.....

Have you seen the spike in vehicle loan defaults and increasing Repos ?

I’m just saying some folks should not buy a new vehicle.

OK.....AS I said....on this forum one's finances is nobody's business until you disagree with those choices.

BTW-there is new car jealousy on here-not saying you necessarily-but it's more than common on the forum.
