Lots of new Ram trucks rotting on dealer lots it seems

Aren't all of Stellantis' North American brands in trouble? I've seen quite a few indications most of their brands are some of the slowest selling brands on the market today. Dodge Hornet is currently the slowest selling vehicle in NA with 646 market day supply and I believe the Charger, Grand Wagoner, RAM 2500, and Chrysler 300 are all +300 market day supply.

Sounds like something has to give.
Imagine the floor plan cost each month.
Seems like a buying opportunity for anyone who'd want one of these things.
As an aside, the Grand Wagoneer seems ridiculously over-priced. It ain't a Tahoe or a Suburban after all.

I bought a ram 2500 new in 21. While I'm still happy with how it drives and how it rides and tows ( towing was the primary reason for it's purchase) a few things about it bother me.

The dash shifter is annoying , and I really hate the push button start.

The thing I miss most that my 03 avalanche had, was the step bumpers. My left knee is getting bad (torn cartilage).
The 2500 is higher off the ground, and with no step it's hard to get in the bed with a bad knee.
I will probably buy the factory, or aftermarket step for it.

Surprised to hear that about the Hornet. It was supposed to be a smash for Dodge in the hot small SUV category. Reviews and driving dynamics were good as it is really an Alfa Romeo.

Perhaps too many years of poor products labeled Dodge scared people off, but I have seen little advertising so 🤷‍♂️.

All of the big 3 have a lot of pricey trucks sitting around though from what I hear. Market correction from the consumers who’ve had enough.

I can understand some of those, but I’m not sure why the Ram 2500 isn’t selling. Demand for 2500 series trucks always seem strong. If they’re priced well I’d think they would sell…. Alas, so many vehicles are priced way out of proportion to the average Joe these days…

It seems every Ram dealer I've driven by has a very large inventory of trucks not selling well. Is Ram in trouble?
In CJDR's case, the following idiom applies: the chickens come home to roost

Like every other manufacturer, they tried to artificially create demand, to keep prices high. Out west, there are mall parking lots full of brand new pickup trucks and other vehicles rotting away.

One of my local CJDR dealers increased their prices for all their vehicles this month, even though no one is buying. The other CJDR dealer never lowered them.

Yes, they're in trouble. They're doing worse than Ford and GM.

I say this: unless you find a very good deal that works in your favor, let 'em rot. They fully deserve what they got, and then some.

I’m not sure why the Ram 2500 isn’t selling
Because a Tradesman 2500 4x4 6.4L that was $40K in 2022 went up to $55K. It's not that there isn't a demand. The problem is that they're overpriced, and dealers are up to no good. High interest rates make matters worse for dealers.

For sales to pick up interest rates have to come down to sane levels, along with prices. Historically, we had high interest rates for vehicles before, however, vehicles were never this expensive.

Greed drove prices up, stupid things like selling over sticker and calling it "market adjusted prices," maybe people got smart. When the dealers get scared of having inventory sit prices will drop. My bet is market adjusted prices can cut both ways.

Window stickers too high and people are broke, also people with bad credit and very high interest rates.

No more stimulus cash handed out like Halloween candy.

Dealerships loved when out of work people were coming in a buying cars and trucks with zero down and 125% loan to value sales. Please stimulate the economy.

And all corporations simply increased their prices on everything after Trillions of cash dumped into economy..…..

There is no competition for them, and really never has been.

Not sure why since the mid 2000s Ram has been in trouble. The late 90s ram and early 2000s Ram were great Trucks.

A stock 99 Ram won "truck night in america".

Its the Ford dealers that seem loaded up here.

I looked online for fun - cheapest they have is a basic work-truck in white, with the mid size super cab (suicide rear doors) in white with steelies, advertised for $42K.

That is basically my truck, and what it stickered at in 2018. They added radio, bucket seats with center console, and alloy wheels, still XL trim (base). Discounts brought it down to 36 at time of sale.

maybe people got smart
Not a chance! 🤣

They just can't afford both at the same time: high prices and high interest rates.

When money was cheap to borrow, people had no problem paying those "over MSRP market ajusted prices."

Got Smart? I don't think so. However, nothing teaches someone to be stingy with their money like being hungry, and not having enough money to pay their bills.
