Hi all,

I just changed the oil in my niece’s Subaru (using Purolator One and Valvoline Advanced), but after seeing all the stories of the poor quality workmanship — with messy glue fragments associated with that particular filter, I decided to immediately remove the Purolator One to see for myself. Whoa! You can lightly brush your finger over the debris to find that it’s just loose! Fortunately, I was able to substitute the K&N filter that I also had in the garage to use for now.

When in bypass mode, I wasn’t sure if the pieces of glue would have plugged up any oil galleys, but I couldn’t take the chance.

Peace!

good choice on the kn filter.. if you want to save some coin you could go with the Super Tech.

Seems like it has been a few years since I started seening pics of motorcrap filters with the black death glue than Purolator yet they do nothing just crickets. No M+H products for me.

Why would they change the potting material/glue from something that worked well to crap that sheds? Cost cutting move apparently to reduce production costs ... why else? Example of how a company will cut corners ... and they won't even fix it like mentioned. Scary way to operate a company.

I can't risk using a Purolator made can oil filters on any of my vehicles or equipment. That includes WIX cans.
Their cartridge filters are okay. You can see what you're getting.

It remains to be seen on which ones but I'm liking the Purolator's South Korean made filters. This one though... :poop:
