The current AZ promtion is close to free after rebate. Buy 2 5+ qt Valvoline Synpower w/Fram ToughGuard Oil Filter for $26.99 ea. get $25 back.

The Walmart Supercenters here are really scaling down their oil selection. I`ll either be buying only from autoparts stores or mail order.

"Beyond regular auto parts" Dave. AZ is in the auto parts business.

As far as AZ oil sales Dave. I posted they are running a AZ/Valvoline exclusive promotion that is hard to beat, assuming Fram ToughGuard Oil Filters are OK by you.

Actually, I was referring more to my area, not so much nation wide. I think that's where you lost me.

Sorry if I confused you...

Well, sadly I can't change the first post. (or Edit, anyways)

So if it is an issue, the Mods can lock it if they want.

My Walmart just re modeled their automotive department too; not much noticable change; more "retro" shelving, but we still got the basics, Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Castrol, PP, PU, Pennzoil, QS, Valvoline and Valvoline Syn. I know I'm probably missing some, but there's atleast 2 or 3 others that they still stock.

It's obvious, times are getting tough so they will likely be cutting back on facings, and move more towards stocking what people are actually buying. It's all about mathematics. Royal Purple is about their newest, but that shelf is always full (at $8 or so per quart, it's expected I guess but it'll be there when someone does need it).

Except you'd have to get $50 back for it to be basically free.

Report from SETX: Visited the Port Arthur Walmart today. Observations are...

1) Bought some MaxLife, and WB Val. was stocked, NO sign of shelf space for SynPower! Bad move by Walmart if true!

2) PU was fully stocked, no one buying.

PP was moving, as shelves had empty areas. Saw one guy look at the PU, then when his eyes lifted and saw the $28 price label, he visibly smirked and quickly walked away to the PP.

3) No RP as far as I could see...

4) Motorcraft syn blend ($12.50) only available in 5w-20... and TX heat soon to arrive...

5) QS $10, Mobil $11, Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic Blend $14.50

No experience with PU. Probably won't have any, too expensive for me. But I have to say the longer my cav runs on the PP, the smoother and nicer it seems to run. I'm just shy of 4k on this change, going to change it somewhere between 6500 and 7500.

The 5W-20 will be just fine in the texas heat.

My bad. I was thinking Buy 1 Get 1 Free. I cannot recall how long ago oil was free after rebate?

BTW IMO...If they have to give someone free oil to get them in the door...they do not need them as a customer. Most likely the only reason those types will be there is for the freebie
