Picked Up Some PYB SN

Hey everyone

So last night, while waiting for new years activities to begin, I decided to stop by the local walmart. Looked at the oil that was on sale, and to my surprise, it was Pennzoil conventional SN jugs!

I picked up 3 jugs, for $9.99 each! Great price by Canadian standards!

Also, another thing I found surprising, this walmart had finally stocked PU, but it was actually priced cheaper than PP jugs of equal size... Not sure the reasoning behind that.

Anyways, just wanted to share that with everyone!

But im also curious, how long would the SN Pennzoil conventional run for, in my particular engine. '93 Toyota Camry with the 5S-FE engine, a "known sludger." I have replaced the PCV valve this summer, so I believe that is working properly. So if anyone can give me a safe OCI for this oil and engine, it would be greatly appreciated.

Great Deal!! I am driving to Canada...lol. I think you would be great with 4500mile OCI's I know there are going to be people who say to go farther. You probably could but you have a known sludger as you said and $10/gal is cheap insurance.Happy New Year!!

At $2.00/qt, that's a great price by any standard...CD, US, or World.

Off topic perhaps, but I wonder how many of those beautiful jugs get recycled and what WE (the customer) pay for them.

Thanks for the reply! That is actually right around how long I was thinking of running it! My first thought was about 7500km which is just under 4700 miles. Now thanks to your reply I know I was on the right track! Thank you, this is probably the oci I will do

You know, this is interesting. Pennzoil is starting to use the metric system I guess and they are using a 4.73 litre (or liter) container. I bought some Valvoline 5W30 Synpower recently and it was in a 5 litre (5.28 quart) container.

Of course you are in Canada and they use the metric system. I wonder why Valvoline here in the USA just did not use a 4.73 litre container.

5k mile OCI's max and you'll have a happy engine for a long time to come. Those are pretty bottles at a great price.

So today I convinced a family member to buy 2 jugs for their vehicle (which I will be doing the oil change on)
5W-20 for an '08 civic

Except today went back and the jugs were $12 each, still good though. Glad to see family is picking up good quality SN oil.

Not sure what you mean by "recycled", but our town does not allow oil bottles in with plastic recycling. They must be thrown in the trash. Makes no sense. The state recently passed law that bans oil filters in the trash; those must be recycled (and few places take them). But the oil bottles...those get thrown away.

I'm still not seeing Pennzoil conventional SN in jugs here in Chicago, just the quarts. That goes for both Meijers and Walmart.

Ditto. I've been in several AZ, AAP, Pep Boys over the last month and have yet to see a jug of it.
