I was getting tired of explaining why you should not Amsoil ATL (or Mercon LV) in the 10R80

And for those who want to compare to OEM

You speak wisdom, and it appears that the failures are not really oil related.
Not in a direct sense, no.

The valve bodies are plagued by wearing/sticking valves. Keeping them free and moving is part of the 10R 'battle'. Frequent fluid changes and Lubegard seems to keep the valve bodies freed up. (IE Keep the contaminants out of the fluid. The ones that the filter doesn't catch, the ones that can get caught between the steel valves and the soft aluminum and cause issues.)

The CDF bushing, that one isn't fluid related. I have a theory that ditching the plastic pan (stabilize the case) and keeping some of the heat out of the trans helps the thing stay put. But that is just a WAG on my part. (Does the R140 use a plastic pan?)

I've never seen any info on whether the CDF bushing failure happens due to out of tolerance parts (resulting in not enough press fit on the bushing) or just a basic design issue that wasn't caught in testing. It's an easy fix conceptually that unfortunately requires a trans removal and complete teardown to repair.
