This is for my 91 pathfinder with 145k miles, I used to run amsoil asl 5w30 with great results as in quieter engine and almost no consumption before that I ran Mobil 1 5w30 and consumption was pretty bad( I found out later on this site that Mobil 1 5w30 is on the thin side). anyways I'm almost done with ARX treatment and want to use synthetic oil in either 5-10w-30 and want the convenience of off the shelf oil. my question is which OTC synthetic oil would have the same viscosity as amsoil asl 5w30? other than GC, I can't find that here. I'm also thinking of mixing some Mobil 1 15w50 to the 5w30. Thanks for any help.

I have never used it but Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic might fullfil your requirements. A3/B3/B4. This is Maxlife Syn, not the Synpower!

It should be readily available.

Wal*Mart SUPERTECH 10w30 Synthetic with HM additives, meets A3 so it's gotta be thick. It seems to be working excellent in our I-5 Audi...that car's had lots of different oils and this one seems great. At $2.40/q, I tried it instead of MaxLife Synth. I was planning UOA and VOA of it at the same time....but I dunno now.
