Hello all,

I'm looking at 2 different Genesis G80s, but wanted to get your take on the vehicles. Both have 'branded' titles. During the collisions, airbags were deployed but it doesn't look like there was any frame damage.

Take a look at let me know what you think:

This one looks like someone spun out on some ice and hit the curb. You'll notice that the driver side rear wheel has damage and the airbags were deployed.
Here is the listing. https://www.autobossmotors.com/details/used-2016-hyundai-genesis/111047447

#2: https://bid.cars/en/lot/0-33834583/2016-Hyundai-Genesis-KMHGN4JE5GU107660
This one had an accident on the passenger side front corner. It appears as if air bags were deployed.

Of course, I'll have a collision center look them over, but figured I'd start here.

Let me know what you think.

Dan.

The second one went from New York to Georgia. I'd look very closely at the undercarriage. I think the first one suffered less. The seconds one had functional damage, which tells me something like the engine or transmission was directly affected by the accident (like CV joint getting a direct hit into the tranny type of stuff). its also been hit twice in the same area. My vote is #1 if that is the type and condition (salvage title) of vehicle you're looking for.

I'd run away from both of em bad enough to own a hyundai product with a warranty let alone a wrecked one.
buy new for the 10/100 warranty or move along IMO.

Look at that passenger front seat bolster on the second one. Looks like they stuffed some crumpled up newspaper in there and stitched it back up. Hard pass from me on either one, but that’s just my opinion.

Hey @Nick1994 , would you own one of these with a branded title and no warranty?
As someone on my 2nd G80, no way Jose.

Well, I mean if it was for like $5k TOPS with the understanding it’s a beater, then that would work.

They’re expensive to maintain. But boy are they an absolute joy to drive though.

Test drove both. 2nd one is a no go unless they cut the price in half.

First one was so smooth and powerful. I’m going to proceed with caution on that one. I’ll be taking it to a highly-rated body shop to have them check it out.

What about them is expensive to maintain?

That one is the current one, here’s the 1st one. It was a doozy.

Well, @The Critic, the owner @Nick1994 said transmission fluid is expensive. Get some Valvoline Extended Protection ATF and that should cover it, probably and most likely sure it's better than the OEM crud.

The rest of the issues sounds about right, as Genesis competes with the likes of Audi, Bimmer, etc. I don't think it competes with Lexus, as Toyota is on a different reliability plane compared to SK cruft.
