Longer filter for 96 Pontiac 3.1?

Looking for a larger capacity filter for a 96 gm 3.1 V6. OEM filter is an AC PF47 I think. Tiny little thing. Not much room around the filter mount, so don't know what will fit.

I think that the AC PF 52 is the longest and only other filter that has those threads I believe but I have been wrong before.

Yes I'm correct I just looked it up and I'm correct. I use this same setup on my buick because I also was spec'd for the PF47 as well and I thought the same thing look at the PF52 or a wix 51036 and you will never look back and it will cost you the same as well.

the 52 is right...i use it on the wife's pontiac

PF52 - Used them for years on my 3.1 in the '91 Grand Prix and on the 3100 in the '98 Monte Carlo.

I always added an extra .5 qts for the added capacity of the filter/leak compensation.

The only advantage with the 52 over the 47 is in your mind. Just because the filter is larger does not mean its any better than the 47. They both perform the same.

I am not saying don't use it but also don't come away thinking there is a big advantage, its just not there.

and btw, I have both of those filters right here so I have some idea of what I speak having several vehicles that use both of them, Lumina and 4x4 Chevy.
