Don't OD MMO. Back when we were first talking MMO on here, we did a lot of experimenting, and big mpg losses were seen.

Yes, I did that same experiment too back then and doing alot research, I cut down to 3 oz per 10 gallon and it work fine.

About a year ago , my orrielly started carrying si-1 , wetter water and redline oil (55 gallon drum only)

Yes its 10 bucks, not much more than techron 15 gal treatment or gumout all in one. Get it a some point when you gonna be doing alot of city driving, your car will be singing for joy. It has upper cylinder lubricants... Its essentially MMO + techron 15 gallon treatment. Cant even mix the 2 for 10 bucks or less

mabe that when my oreilly start carry redline product too. hope they start carry gear oil like advance use to do.

Any of these upper cylinder lubes will do what you are asking. Some would recommend twc-3 2 stroke oil, which I havent tried myself.

Lucas UCL is one of the worst wastes, and BITOG members avoid it.
MMO is a decent lube and cleaner. 2 stroke oil is scary good at lubing, but does not clean and may leave some deposits in the CCs. Usually not, but it may if you overdose.

My mistake for speaking for a whole board, ill try not to do it again as its becoming a habit.

From what I have read, the concensus is that its a good UCL, but a terrible cleaner. Its not hated to the extent of their OIL STABILIZER. So in my opinion, even tho its not celebrated like PEA cleaners or twc-3 , I think it could be considered "acceptable", even though it isnt ideal considering there are better options.

The OP was mostly concerned about lubing the fuel pump, which if he bought the 32 Oz bottle, he could have probably 8 treatments for about 10 bucks. The small bottles are a ripoff for sure.

I personally don't have an issue with LUCL. I run a variety of adds, and IMO it is one of the few adds where throttle response feels improved. I don't need cleaning above EPA levels all the time, but I like to have the UCL capability, and IMO Lucas does that well.

Don't see any obvious Lubes listed in the MSDS for the "three PEAS" (However RED LINE SI-1 makes a lube claim on the product description page)

Yeah happened to me..Too much MMO, cat on the edge. Half way through the tank the dreaded P0420. Pushed it over the edge. My bad. Leery of gas system/upper cyl lubes now.

I am excited with results of doing 2-3oz/10 gal of MMO. Car runs silently now and MPG is the same or better.
Also Techron before oil changes.
with MMO 40% off (online code) and Techron BOGO, I stocked up. Very cheap adds.

3oz/10gal seem work for me, that way I know I wont OD it. Should I try 2oz that is 50% lest then what they recomment . I wonder if it do anything for running 2oz

about lucas, not big fan of it, but their fuel injector stuff is good for UCL , I remember jay leno say something that he use that for most of his car, lucas not pay him to say that, he just say that because he like it.

Just my opinion -

Lucas UCL is great for lubricating the fuel system/upper cylinders, but is a poor cleaner. TC-W3 is also great for lubricating, and is generally cheaper than Lucas.

Use either one at 1 oz per 10 gallons (minimum) to lubricate the fuel system, 1 oz per 5 gallons (maximum) to start seing modest MPG increase. I've been doing this for years with no ill effects. Generally I use the lower dosage for around town/commuting and the higher dosage for long trips.

PEA cleaner once or twice a year, generally one or two tanks before an oil change. Generally I don't dose the UCL when I dose the PEA, and I go back to maximum dosage of UCL immediately after the oil change to re-lube everything the PEA cleaned up.

Haven't personally tried MMO.

I think imma give redline a go, I been searching for it for over 3 years around here, I alway want to try it. it does say lubricate UCL , 1 bottle for going. and It does say using small dose for maintenance, my tank is 15 gallon, how many oz I should use for maintenance dose.

SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner - 15oz, concentrated additive, powerful detergents (not solvent based), one bottle per tank for quick clean up, contains synthetic upper cylinder lube, cleans injectors, carbs, PCV, and chamber deposits.

Cleans injectors, carburetors, valve and combustion chamber deposits with a concentrated blend of the most powerful high-temp and low-temp detergents available
Cleans to nearly 100% efficiency in one treatment
Reduces need for octane by up to two points
Contains synthetic upper cylinder lubricant
Cleans pollution control valves
Use one bottle per tank for most effective treatment of neglected vehicle
Also use in smaller doses for maintenance as one bottle treats up to 100 gallons
Safe for continual use
Same chemistry is also available in 4oz dosage as Complete Fuel System Cleaner for Motorcycles

The bottles used to be marked for measuring the maintenance dose, but someone recently posted that the labels have changed. Check Redline's website to see if they mention the ratio.

I haven't used it in a long time, but I think 1/4 bottle was my maintenance dose for 26 gallons.

No, unless you experience knocking (pre-detonation) then try 1 grade higher to see if it goes away.

My car recommends Premium so I use it. I could use 87 but it will adjust everything for the lower octane and reduce performance.

Your car is designed for 87 so enjoy the cheaper gas price.
