Here's a VOA of an oil from a local blender. I've always been curious about it. It can be found on the shelves of at least one local parts store and many shops and both dealers use it in bulk.

I've used northland synblend before with no issues. They have a dexos certified oil as well. A lot of local ma n pa garages use it around here.

Looks like a good oil for 3-5k oci

Thanks for the comments. Would you guys help me compare and contrast it with Kendall GT-1 Synthetic Blend?

Kendall has a much higher Calcium , boron, zinc, and P level. It has a little less moly but also contains titanium which northland does not. Kendall tbn is 8.6 compared to the 6.8 of northland. On paper, Kendall has a much stronger and better additive package. It has shown some great uoa lately.

Since I can get it locally at a great price, it's my choice of oil from now on. Only other in my stash is FAR nextgen, and pp all for the focus. After that I'll be stashing kendall since its same price as oil in 5qt jugs at Walmart. 3.29/qt here.

I see. I'm curious as to how the Northland would do in a few different UOAs? Does anybody know of some I could review? I've looked from time to time and didn't see any?

I thought you said you won't use Kendall, way back when? Just curious to if you changed your mind and if so what made ya change your mind?

Good memory and you're right. I won't use it, which is too bad because I know it's a fine product. It's just that I'm so very sick and tired of listening to my boss crow and caw about how uber wonderful this stuff is. From the way he talks, it could cure cancer, feed the hungry and lead to world peace when it's not saving your engine from certain demise...

He calls Northland a "cheap" oil, meaning that it won't give proper wear protection (among other things) and I was looking for some "real world" info that proves it really is a decent product. In addition to that, I'd really like a local blender to have a quality product as a matter of pride.

Also, thanks for the link to the UOA!

No problem! It stinks he ruined your opinion due to his obnoxiousness but its understandable. It has worked well for me but I wouldn't hesitate to use something else, I can just get it for a good price and its a sibling to motorcraft and trop artic that my family has used for decades.
