Lots of reading here got me sheeeepishly extending my OCI in the wifes 2010 Armada. Using M1 and a K&N filter I had an used oil analysis done at 5k. All looked pretty good and TBN was just fine. I also cut open the filter and looked great (as it should). Kept it to compare to next OCI.

Within a month the Armada should be at 7k mark. Using Mobil 1 5w30 again but this time P1 filter. Will be doing a used oil analysis with TBN and filter comparrison as well.

Kinda looking forward to seeing what I end up with. A little off as this is the farthest out I've ever gone on any oil.

IMO, you'll be fine. You might try for 9k next time.

You might want to consider Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 for your next run. I'm using it for the first time and, after over 5k miles, I think it might be a much better oil that the Mobil 1 5w30.....just my belief.

I'l stretch it out at least 9k.

Not sure if I'd get to that point!! One step at a time!! What vehicle are you running the 0w30 in?

I've heard many of the Nissan/Infiniti engines tend to be a little hard on oil. From used oil analysis Ive read here I'm not expecting any issues at 7k with Mobil 1 anf P1 filter. UOA will make me sleep well!

Biscut -

You are doing this right by walking up to maximums.

BTW, don't split hairs with used oil analysis, as all sorts of driving conditions, etc are different all the time.

Getting close now....she's less than 800 miles away from the 7k mark.

I know everyone is wating with bated breath....oil changed this morning, 7200 OCI. Sample collected and will be sent to Blackstone tomorrow.

Hoping to have time to cut open the P1 and compare it to the KnN from previous OC.

IIRC, Nissan calls for a 7500 mile OCI in normal use.
This engine should still be under warranty.
I'd therefore not go past 7.5K until the thing is out of warranty.
I'd use the used oil analysis as a reference for future changes once the engine is out of warranty.
If your 7.2K used oil analysis looks good, tig's probably right and 10K on M1 could be realistic.

Sloooow down there...BITOG got me away from the waste of 3k oil changes and I'm slowly moving things out to greater OCIs.

[censored], I'm even running 5k on the 97 Camry with conventional (Pennzoil conventional).

BTW she's outa warranty -- 46k mile mark.

Sample sent out I'm thinking I''l get the results today or 2-morrow.

Mean time I cut open the P1 filter. ADBV worked as advertised retained a good amount of oil even after filter was left upside down draining for 2 days. Pleats looked great, uniform and no issues to report. All in all exactly what I'd expect from that filter at 7200 miles.

What was surprising to me was that the P1 at 7200 looked better than the KnN at 6k. The KnN pleates were good but the ADBV failed as there was very little oil left in the filter.

I didn't take pics (yes, I relaize if no pics it didn't happen).

Should clarify -- the first KnN filter at 5k was excellent when cut open the ADBV worked. It was the second at 6k that didn't work....and I used the last og the KnN filters and now use P1's.
