LG refrigerator not cooling- motor is very hot to the touch

It’s kind of funny how forums work.
I see lots of comments and praise for GE appliances and yet in other threads people trash others for buying products from a Chinese company. Maybe they don’t know GE is owned by a Chinese company?

Go figure, pick your poison appliances are no more expensive than good TV sets.
I go for looks and quality, reliability can be hit or miss with any products, including automobiles

You might be surprised how much electricity this old fridge is using. My sister couldn't understand why their electric bill was high when they were gone for several months and nothing was being used. It was the old garage fridge.
When it quits, I’ll replace it.

Well aware GE Appliances is owned by Haier. I have no problem with Chinese made goods, everyone loves their iPhone and Macbook...where do you think they're made?

The GE dishwasher I bought a few months ago was made in Kentucky, as were the washer and dryer I bought two years ago.

@GON, congratulations on your retirement! I (and I'm sure everyone here) wish you the very best in this next chapter of your life.
@Number_35 ,

Thanks for the kind words and congratulations.

It had been a great week. First time since the last decade I didn't check email, no phone calls, nothing to worry about. Free at last... except.

Yesterday afternoon I received a call that I am being "retired recall", and expected to be back working next week, for two years. Was awesome while it lasted---- but I don't mind working so not complaining. I just have a four-mile-long to-do list I wanted to get started on....

What? So what is stopping you from just saying no and quitting, pension requirements or something?

LG compressor, if you can get it fixed under warranty with free labor just fix it. If you have to pay labor definitely not.

I would trust a dumb low end Whirlpool or GE families of fridge, washer, etc over anything Korean or European these days. Korean aren't really design right for the US usage somehow. They may work well in their Korean market but something did something wrong, and are hard to fix, in the US somehow. I really wish they can get their acts together and build a track record for me to trust.

They really don't make them like they used to. My 1994 GE fridge is still running ok, same as my washer from 1994 Whirlpool washer dryer (electric). I have to replace some parts like those shelf rails and hinges, belts and pumps, rollers, etc, but still work after those. I could get those parts from eBay (Genuine OEM instead of no name brands) instead of a dealer network too.

The copper wire will eliminate the manual defrosting. Besides, a frost free refrigerator should be just that.
I defrosted my Whirlpool top freezer refrigerator and placed a 12 ga. copper wire around the defrost element, extending it into the drain hole. It worked. The freezer is frost free and there is no water pooling in the refrigerator.
