I use the NAPA brand gojo that comes in a little tub about the size of a tub of butter. Works well and as far as I remember costs $.99

You fellas seem to have no problem at all with Dawn dishwashing soap as suggested by others, but lots of problems with laundry soap as suggested by me. Hmmm...
Liquid Tide works a treat; you should try it. It's a bit harsh for long-term/professional use; but, for the home grease-monkey it's great.
In 40 yrs i've tried everything from dish soaps, laundry detergents, dishwasher granules, bleach, toilet bowl cleaner, brake cleaner, carb cleaner, purple power you name it.

A coworker of mine's wife is a sales person for Zep. She gave me a gallon jug of their hand soap (green stuff). It comes with a pump but that didn't last long. It's great stuff though. I have had my hands black with grease and rotted out fuel filler hose that was just nasty. It took that stuff right off. Best stuff I have used in the last 40 years.

ZEP makes great products! Try their industrial carpet cleaner (blue jug) in a little green machine for car interiors, its phenomenal.
You can get a gallon of ZEP for $10 that gets about a qt of Bissel which is inferior in comparison.
