Lets talk about new vehicles

Late model CRV Hybrid blown head gaskets.. interesting...
I liked the latest CRV but the $10k + trim to trim extra over the Outlander because of price gouging I'd figure that would buy a bunch of gas especially at $2.65 a gallon and now near $4...

Late model CRV Hybrid blown head gaskets.. interesting...
Several Canadian owners of the current 11th generation Honda Accord hybrids are reporting on Reddit that they're getting notified of a head gasket recall in the HondaLink app as of today:

My understanding is that the hybrid Accord's LFC5 naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine is fundamentally the same engine used in the current generation of hybrid CRVs, just tuned slightly differently between the Accord vs. CRV.

I knew that the turbocharged 1.5 liter Accord / CRV engines have had a troubling history and frequency of head gasket failures, but was hoping it wasn't an issue with the 2.0 liter engines. As a 2024 Accord hybrid owner, I don't love seeing reports that it is.

Will be interesting to see if this head gasket recall is real and if so, if it gets extended to US owners too.

Yep I agree and I felt the 2L was immune.. my 2025 Accord Hybrid is gone.. But my niece just bought one because of mine .. a 2026 😞

If my local dealers didn't go $2k over MSRP on the CRV hybrid I would have bought one...

I have a pair of CRVs at work with the 1.5 turbos. Up there in miles when you count the extensive idle time. No head gasket issues, yet, but plenty of AC and cooling problems.

No its all on this thread... it was a complete Lemon and a rattle trap.
They didn't fix it and lied on a few issues so I sold it to Carvana and told them the truth and the driver bought it...View attachment 348332View attachment 348333
Sorry, I missed that.

Reminds me of issues with my '00 Accord. Car was poorly assembled - air leaks, water leaks galore, and dealers were completely useless trying to fix them. I ditched it within a year - probably the shortest amount of time I ever owned a vehicle, and a new one at that. I think that experience turned me off Honda for life, although I did consider getting a new '23 Accord Hybrid, but it was first model year, so I chickened out.

Zee09, funny that your thread from 2018 popped up under "Similar threads".

What did you end up getting back then?

That’s so many new cars ago no way he remembers. 🤣

Actually I haven't answered yet as that is the case and my life was very negative for those years.

In 2016 I had a C-Max, and a F350 diesel....
I waited until 2020 and got a F250 7.3L gasser and in 2021 a Arteon I kept until the warranty expired and the same year I had a new Mitsubishi Sport I stole from Greenbay Wisconsin and flipped for a good payout..

As much as I like the Mustang and I’m in it for the long haul, the one that got away was my 2018 Passat GT. Should still be driving it now. Traded on a whim and lack of sleep. 😮

I was buying one in 2021 and they sold it on me.... picked up the Arteon that day... I do like VWs

It sounds dumb but when gas is up here $1.50 a gallon my interest of cars wanes..... I'm not the only one either..... weird huh?

Some folks start panic buying economy boxes they will dump later when prices go back down. Talk about false economy.

I don’t really care one way or another. I have blown too much on cars though so I’m completely out of the shopping mentality that was an expensive hobby. 😮

Off to change oil before the driveway is the temperature of the sun.

Yeah before I go to Florida I'm doing an oil change but have a problem...
Which to use from my massive assortment..... GTL isn't really needed because that engine is smooth as silk on the garbage factory swill
