Lets talk about new vehicles

Kicking back after a long hard day of back breaking labor only to be irritated by YouTube....

I watched two video reviews of the Maverick hybrid with positive mpgs in the 34 to 36 mpgs...

These people have absolutely no idea on how to drive one....what a joke... I can drive one like I stole it and get 60mpg and when trying over 100 mpgs...

You can't fix stupid...

Most people don’t know how to drive for best MPG. People don’t believe it when they hear what I average in my non hybrid Civic. I’d love to see what I can do with a hybrid for one week of driving

I didn't watch the whole video-but I watched some of it. He showed a picture of Reddit pages (referencing comments) for at least one vehicle. That place is about as far away from credibility as you can get.

I know what it takes but won't do it. Hypermiling is something I have no desire to do. Typical loser is hanging out in passing/carepool/toll lane going under the speed limit. I see it all the time with these Prius and other hybrid vehicles impeding traffic.

I much rather would drive normally with no rapid accelerations, hard braking and use cruise control. In order to get best MPG's you are going to get the motoring public road raging against you.

I do no hypermiling at all
I blow away the EPA ratings with 80 mph interstate use.... and i gun it often.... I have 18 years of hybrid ownership and never those kind of dismal mpgs

I have some many pictures of proof here people got tired of it..
lol

I'm by no means pooling all the hybrid owners (such as yourself) together. It's just a generalization of what I see day to day.

Tells us your secrets oh MPG God?

I'll admit to being a hybrid "newbie", have had the Civic for about 2 months and there is a learning curve. I was somewhat surprised to find that my actual (calculated) mpg actually exceeded Honda's published numbers. This is not a revelation to me as being a Honda owner for many years, I was always able to beat their numbers. I'll say that with the current fuel prices, 50+ mpg takes some of the bite out. Yes, I'm a believer in Toptier.

Who even said that I was hyoermiling? There are many ways of getting better MPG without annoying the rest of the people on the road.

I was not directing it to you personally. Your statement was: Most people don’t know how to drive for best MPG. That is the description of Hypermiling. It is the only way to get the best MPG on any vehicle.

You most certainly can get better mpg and find a happy medium without annoying the genera motoring public. However it is impossible to get best mpg without Hypermiling.

Learned how to get better fuel economy from the '07 Prius that was bought new . Always had small cars and still do mostly for saving money on gas and low car payments that are easier to pay off . Got top $ for the trade in of the '07 Prius in '08 when oil spiked and got a new '08 Yaris sedan and cash that paid off the '07 YARIS 3 door hatchback . Both '25 Souls are paid for and are are averaging a little over 35 M.P.G. calculated . Took awhile to wise up with not buying new vehicles every year or 2 .

My girlfriend and I went out for a nice Sunday drive today to explore a small town just over an hour away and spent the entire time on country roads going between 60-80 kmh. The Civic got 4.3L per 100km which is 54.7 MPG. I didn’t use the AC even though it was 80 degrees but it was very comfortable driving with the windows open 😎

I would still love to see what I could do with a new Prius during a drive like that. Maybe 70 MPG?

Last year's trip back from Hilton Head in the C43; I usually average 80 mph on the interstate but in this case the average speed was very low due to being stuck in stop and go traffic for over an hour. I did bump it back up having a bit of a play with a G12 Alpina B7. Its driver was being charitable as the B7 had the C43 beat on top speed by 50 mph...
